Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed Set Their Wedding Date

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 2nd 2011 7:30AM
Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed'Family Jewels' fans left hanging by the "will she or won't she?" Season 6 finale need wonder no longer.

We watched Gene Simmons propose (finally!) to longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed back in July and now, instead of settling in for the long engagement some may have expected, the reality TV stars have announced that they're tying the knot next month.

The pair have released a wedding invitation, which reveals that the ceremony will take place on October 1 at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, and that there's a dress code.

"Classy Cocktail Attire Requested ... although we know some Rockstar attire will be worn." (Hey, could that mean that Gene will get hitched in full KISS makeup and boots? We hope so!)

The invitation is sent from their kids and contains drawings of the family done by son Nick and a tongue-in-cheek message from daughter Sophie: "Our Mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name and our Father's life ... well, it doesn't change that much."

The message continues, "There will no longer be a Team Tweed or a Team Simmons but instead a Team Tweed-Simmons."

KISS frontman Simmons and former 'Playboy' model Tweed have been living together since 1985, and their often tempestuous relationship has provided fodder for six seasons of their successful reality TV show. Fans can expect a front-row seat at the wedding when Season 7 returns.

'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' Season 7 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4, 9PM ET on A&E.

I LOVE YOU MOM!

Hibheyday, the word you were looking for is "moot", which means something trivial, silly, without worth or not necessary; "mute" means unable to speak.

@mom In the most common sense "moot" is used to describe something that is resolved, already determined, not in question,,,though there are probably other uses of the word. Trivial is not one that comes to mind in this instance.

i love the idea that Gen Simmons finally came to his sences to ask Shannon to marry him, I never thought he would either.
but the question alot of people have is: after 26 years, whats the big deal?? well, let me tell you what the big deal is, and its not for ratings, trust me,
women should understand this, men may not, its for :Shannon's Piece of Mind!!! to know Gene is her husband, not boyfriend, means the world to Shannon!! if Shannon would not have left to go stay with her parents and told gene she was tired of all the woman chasing he was doing, Gene would have never asked her to marry her.
if you have been watching all the seasons of Family Jewels and understood what was going on. you would understand this alot more, Congradulations to Shannon and Gene Simmons!!!!!!!! good luck in the rest of your lives!

I'm very happy that Gene & Shannon finally getting married. I thought I would never see the day that Gene would get married I always knew he loved Shannon so it's great that he finally popped the question to his beauty queen.

Don't care about what anyone else here says, but I for one am very happy that they're getting married. Personally, I never liked Gene Simmons prior to the show. In my opinion (repeat, MY opinion) the show does show how much he loves & cares about Shannon, Nick and Sophie which is why I do like him now. One person here made a comment about Gene finally believing that he can remain faithful to Shannon and to that I'm thrilled (cheating is wrong period IMO!). He has a great thing with Shannon and he'd be a fool if he lost it. Although, personally after 26 years of being together except for possibly the name change, I don't see what difference it's going to make. She's already able to use his credit card and whatever money coming into the house. I guess peace of mind on her part which is very important and now they would be legally bound together. BOTTOMLINE - I'm happy for all of them. They've done a great job of raising Nick and Sophie. I can't wait till the next season comes on TV.

It's nice they are finally getting married, but at this point...I think it's a bit mute.

What comment are you refering? You don't make sense. I've been a BIG KISS fan now for over 35 years and I think Gene was thinking very logically. He knew he would not be faithful to Shannon at any point in the time they spent together and he told her that. He doesn't believe in monogomy. His marring her NOW just means he's caving to her and his children's wishes. Either way...He's a good man.

Gene said a long time ago, as in the early '80s when their first non-make-up album came out, that they thought it was funny that people had these phrases and that KISS was just an abbreviation for those phrases. Ad people dropped it as soon as the make-up and costumes were no longer there. He said when they first started, they had shouted out all kinds of names, and then Paul said "KISS." They all went silent. With Gene having two degrees and speaking 4 or 5 different languages at the time (early 1970s) that he knew KISS was right because in any language people knew what a KISS is. So he said what it stood for was two people putting their lips together. This is in the book KISSTORY II. Then he said when they put the make-up back on, the protests over the supposed intials that KISS stood for started again. He then said, "If KISS is initials for anything it's Keep It Spectacular Stupid."

Perhaps Gene and Shannon should get married in Saskatoon. Perhaps Gossip Magazines
may even open up a map to find out were Saskatoon is located. The Paparazzi will probably
get lost somewhere in a small airport in North Dakota wondering where they should go next.
Perhaps the Roughrider Club Shuttle can help them out ! ( I'm just saying )
A quiet wedding with family and friends wouldn't that be nice for a change.
Oh Yes, the TV Cameras' , Oh well back to Beverly Hills. The Land of Plastic.
