First Look at the Tammy vs. Tammy Drink-Off on 'Parks and Recreation' (VIDEO)

by Maureen Ryan, posted Sep 2nd 2011 4:45PM
Tammy vs. Tammy in an "old-fashioned prairie drink-off?" Holy shot glasses, the new season of 'Parks and Recreation' can't arrive fast enough.

In the video below, we get our first glimpse of Patricia Clarkson as Tammy 1, Ron Swanson's first ex-wife, for whom the adjective "formidable" seems inadequate. We also see Paula Pell as the intimidating Tammy Zero, the mother of all Ron Swanson goodness (are we a little disappointed that Ron's mom, the O.G. Tammy, if you will, doesn't have her own awesome mustache? Discuss in comments).

In the four-minute behind-the-scenes clip, which features the 'Parks and Recreation' cast talking about what's to come when the show returns, the Tammys sit down for the aforementioned drinkoff, and unwisely, Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) tries to keep up.

But Leslie can't hold her liquor -- she "goes off the rails" after one shot -- according to Poehler. Tammy 1, naturally, doesn't have a hair out of place as she continues to down what looks like grain alcohol. No wonder Ron Swanson was both attracted to and terrified by this woman.

"Tammy 1 and Tammy 2 could not more different," says Nick Offerman, who plays Swanson. "Tammy 2, played by my wife Megan [Mullally], is a raging hellcat who uses her sexual wiles to control Ron."

Tammy 1, according to Poehler, is "ice-cold, dangerous, steely and maternal.... Ron gets neutered, and turned into basically an infant."

But the women in Ron's life and the state of his facial hair aren't the only story lines in the upcoming season (though we'd almost be fine with it if that were the case). Poehler and Adam Scott (who plays her co-worker and boyfriend, Ben Wyatt) talk about their characters' secret romance and whether it could interfere with Leslie's long-cherished desire to run for office. As we learned last season, Pawnee doesn't allow government workers to date, and their boss, Chris (Rob Lowe), especially frowns on fraternization in City Hall.

"We have to find out if she's going to run [for office,] will they stay together, will they break up, will there be a scandal?" Poehler says.

"Season 4 will be a lot of character having to make big choices," she adds.

Thanks for sharing this! In the immortal words of Chris Traeger, I *literally* cannot wait for Parks & Rec to return. Ron Swanson's mustache looks like it has grown back more glorious than ever!

What's the timeslot going to be for P&R this season? Post-Office?

I'm pretty sure it's on right before the office. 'whitney' I think is on after 'the office'.
