TNT Cancels 'HawthoRNe'

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 2nd 2011 12:35PM
HawthoRNeTNT has canceled 'HawthoRNe' after three seasons.

Jada Pinkett Smith headlined the drama series about Christina Hawthorne, a tough nurse who becomes the COO and president of James River Hospital.

"TNT has decided not to order a fourth season of 'HawthoRNe,'" the network said in a statement. "TNT truly appreciates the tremendous dedication of everyone involved in 'HawthoRNe.' The series gave TNT the opportunity to work with many outstanding people, including Jada Pinkett Smith and the rest of the show's talented cast, crew, producers and writers. We wish everyone involved with 'HawthoRNe' nothing but the best."

The series also starred Marc Anthony, Michael Vartan and Vanessa Lengies. The first two seasons averaged a little more than 3 millions viewers each.

Season 3 debuted in June 2011 to 2.57 million viewers. Over its 10-episode third season, the show didn't crack 3 million viewers.

No word on other TNT bubble show 'Memphis Beat.'

Too bad the show canceled before we even got to see Christina become the hospitals C.O.O. The third season was too much about Marc Anthony and her..They trailed away from the original message and excitement of the show, the drama at the hospital...things people can relate too. I was excited at the beginning of the first season when she went through that depression...it was good drama (Emmy-Award deserving on her behalf) but I was expecting it mid-season for her to get back on her feet and become the C.O.O....but it dragged out the romance and made the third season less about the hospital and more about her...She is only interesting in the hospital....take that character out of her field its just not good TV...Sad to see this show leave, but it was the writers fault....Wish it was back...I watch the second season on DVD all the time :(
