Steven Seagal Denies That a Puppy Was Killed During Reality Show Raid

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 5th 2011 10:00AM
Steven SeagalAccording to the Associated Press, actor Steven Seagal and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio have denied accusations by a Phoenix man and his lawyer that a family pet was killed during a raid filmed for Seagal's reality TV show.

TMZ earlier reported that Seagal took part in a March 9 raid on the home of Jesus Llovera for his A&E show, 'Steven Seagal: Lawman.'

Llovera alleges that Seagal arrived at his home with a tank, which he rammed into a gate on his property, and that an 11-month-old puppy was killed during the raid along with 100 roosters.

Seagal said he's outraged by the allegation, and Sheriff Arpaio said it is without merit. "If my deputies, or posse man Seagal for that matter, had done something so awful like shooting a family dog, then where are the photos to prove it?" Arpaio asked.

Llovera's attorney, Robert Campos, told The AP Friday his client didn't accuse action star Seagal "of having anything to do with the death of his puppy. He just wanted an apology from Seagal for his role in the destruction of my client's home, property and animals."

According to witnesses, a dog was present on Llovera's property when deputies and SWAT team members, including Seagal, entered the premises with a search warrant to arrest him on cockfighting charges and seize all evidence pertaining to the crime.

Llovera is seeking $25,000 in damages against the sheriff's office for humiliation, emotional distress and property damage he says were inflicted during the raid.

The first two seasons of 'Lawman' followed Seagal as he worked as a reserve deputy sheriff in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, a role he's taken on since the late 1980s. For Season 3 the action has moved to Maricopa County, Arizona.

What the F###? Who the h### is going to let Seagal be an officer, this man has a napoleon complex and allowing him to use tanks and guns is just stupid.... I think we should be going after that person, the one who allowed this man to go ape s#### on these people. Seagal has obviously lost his mind and is not sane enough to be held responsible for his own actions. There for, the person who said “Hey I have an idea, let’s give him a real badge, some guns, and a freaking tank and see what happens” should be the one who is sued.

Get off his back. Seagal is at least trying to help out. He doesn't need the money, and by the way........why don't you look him up and tell him he's a puppy killer to his face! CHICKEN !!! Even if he is in his late 50's, and overweight, he could still subdue your dumb a** with one blow. GET OFF HIS BACK !!!
Join a police force yourself if you're so concerned with protecting people who run animal fights! Are you related to Michael Vick ? Sounds like you are!

I'm afraid Steven has fallen into "Chuck Norris Syndrome." They start out as martial artists, and end up thinking they're some sort of God.

Pity.

Law enforcement work Seagal is currently a Reserve Deputy Chief of the Sheriff's Office in the community of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Seagal has a second home in Louisiana, and spends several months a year there.[15] He graduated from a police academy in California over twenty years ago and has a certificate from Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST), an organization that accredits California police officers. Excuse me, did no one else find it ironic that a man who runs cock fights is seeking pity because he supposedly lost a dog? I think the program is awful, but really....

No, you're thinking of Mickey Roarke. Steven was never married to Kelly. Mickey was.

Darn... I hate when officers take down a hard core suspect (convicted felon)and ruin his property... What were they thinking...Phoenix man will just steal another dog (one) from some innocent child's heart . All you HATERS... One of the 1st on a leo's raid list... LOOK out for children & animals...One officers only task in these raids so GROW up... No officer on the planet would hurt a animal or child unless being deathly attacked. Officers LIVE for DOGS and CHILDREN

Maybe where your at but where I'm from, cops shoot more peoples pets then they do suspects! One case, swat team members shot BOTH the persons pets, This person was the Mayor of the city!!!! and turned out to be a mistake in the first place!!!! One dog was shot while running AWAY from them. This happens all the time here. And these guys were in full gear and still scared of 2 house dogs! I have been in animal rescue for 20 years, been bit, scratched, clawed, snapped at and kicked at by dogs, cats, wild critters , snakes & horses and guess what... Never had to kill anything!,
As far as this shows, to tell you the truth, I never even heard of it.

It is my understanding that if a law enforcement officer (and I don't believe that Seagal qualifies, regardless of what Apaio says) has a search warrant, that warrant is presented to the owner of the property and the premises are then searched (in an orderly manner) for just what the warrant states can be looked for. Unless the man who owned the property was totally uncooperative and/or pulled a gun on the serving officers (which hasn't been alleged) then why the hell did Seagal drive a TANK through the man's front gate? I don't care if it was a TV show, even a man who is allegedly breaking the law has the right to respond to a search warrant without having his home destroyed. Arpaio and Seagal and their tv show eveidently have forgotten about "innocent until proven guilty". This is a despicable plot for a TV show anyway. Seagal ought to face the fact that he's NOT an offficer of the law and not a very good actor any more - RETIRE, you idiot, and see if you can get the publicity hungry Sheriff to go with you. God help me, my husband and I have already accepted a job for the winter in Phoenix, AZ. Don't know if we can stand Arpaio on the news every night doing or saying something outlandish!!
