Wilson Phillips Gets Reality Show Pilot

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 6th 2011 3:00PM
Wilson PhillipsWilson Phillips: From music chart-toppers to reality stars and back again? The pop group's comeback will be the focus of a new reality show pilot on the TV Guide Network.

The all-girl singing group, known for their hit 'Hold On,' teased the project to AOL Music during the summer of 2011, but now the news is confirmed.

The project will chronicle the three members -- Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips -- as they juggle family life while staging the ultimate musical comeback.

"Wilson Phillips is extremely excited to start a reality show following the reunion of the girls and what it's like 21 years later," Carnie Wilson said in a statement. "Between touring, recording a new CD and raising nine children, the show promises love, laughter and head bumping!"

Carnie is currently judging the ABC reality series 'Karaoke Battle USA' and Chynna Phillips will compete on Season 13 of 'Dancing With the Stars.

The show will premiere on the TV Guide Network later this year.

"Our original programming is bringing fans closer to their favorite celebrities, and our new show with Wilson Phillips underscores this commitment," Allen Shapiro, chairman of TV Guide Network, said in a statement.

I have never left an opinion on line. But these three women of "Wilson Phillips" Reality Show say they love and respect each other. Well, during their Reality Show they showed spitefulness, jealousy, back-stabbing toward each other, and one 'loving' friend even threatened to sue the other. Chyna thoughtlessly accepted a Dancing with the Stars gig, leaving Carnie and her sister in limbo when they were trying to cut an album. Carnie scheduled by-pass surgery when they were to perform their come-back stage performance at a Fair in Utah. And trying to copy and exploit their parents' songs is laughable. Trying to sound like the REAL Mama ans Papas and The Beach Boys with those three women's voices is sad. Poor mid-life women trying to make a comeback is admirable, but trying to pretend something you aren't is also sad. Good luck, women. But please get some therapy to learn some compassion, forgiveness, LOYALTY, and vocal lessons. Don't disgrace your parents.

Just what the world needs. Another stupid waste of resources realilty show. With a useless group of has-beens or never-was's. Thank god I love sports or I would barely have a reason to still own a tv.

This is what happens when you don't get picked for dancing with the stars.

I have a couple guilty pleasure reality shows that I watch but this announcement makes it clear that the genre has run its course. They had a couple catchy songs back in the day but as far as watching a show about their "comeback"....watching paint dry comes to mind.

Not another reality show, Please I am so sick of them. I am told that they don't cost that much to make. Also they don't have to pay top money to big stars. I agree with those that posted, there are no talented writers anymore. Did you notice all the remakes of great movies and TV shows. Nothing original. It is sad.

I guess it's what happens when you have too many channels, filler & hype.

It's not the fact there aren't any talented writers... there are plenty but to get in the business isn't easy.

Reality shows are cheaper and studios make a profit from advertisers.

Poor Carnie..She has stomach bypass surgery, and has eaten it all back on.. I know she had a baby, but MY GOSH, if I had put myself thru that surgery.. I think I would HIRE a dietician and trainer to keep the weight OFF. This is a mental issue and she needs to get help with it. b/c she is a FOOD ADDICT, which can KILL you just like all the other addictions to anything.

and you actually know her personally and can verify she is a Food Addict. some people takes meds that pretty much have the same effect on their bodies.. but it is easy to sit behind you keyboard and make nasty comments, isn't it.. oh and I am not sticking up for the reality show.. it was her weight comment!
