Jon Stewart: The 24-Hour News Networks Manufacture Conflict (VIDEO)

'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Fans of 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) know how much Jon Stewart hates the 24-hour news networks.

Because they have to play the ratings game to succeed as a network, he believes their integrity as news organizations is next to nil, as they can sensationalize anything, no matter how trivial, into something huge and meaningful.

His most recent example is the recent rescheduling of a Presidential Address to Congress, to accommodate a Republican presidential candidates debate. Stewart called this a Tale of Reasonable Accommodation, and he applauded the politicians for simply taking care of this minor scheduling issue amicably.

The news networks, on the other hand, first attacked them for fighting over a scheduling matter and then decided that Obama lost this "battle." He caved, or gave in, showing his weakness, by rescheduling his speech. In the words of Stewart, "Are you f****** insane?"

Can't something so minor that happened be just that. Can't we just say that the Republicans requested he reschedule his speech for their debate, and the president agreed? That's the end of the story. This one doesn't really need to spin, does it?
