'Biggest Loser' Contestant Sam Poueu in Critical Condition After Accident

Sam PoueuFormer 'Biggest Loser' contestant Sam Poueu is in critical condition in a San Francisco hospital, according to TMZ.

The Season 9 competitor reportedly fell several stories from a building on Sept. 3 and has been in the ICU ever since suffering from a pelvic injury, torn ligaments, a punctured lung and a broken leg.

No word on how long Poueu's recovery will take, but Dr. H from 'The Biggest Loser' told TMZ that Poueu is improving every day.

After being kicked off 'The Biggest Loser' in 2010, Poueu started dating fellow contestant Stephanie Anderson. The two were engaged last October.

According to The Hollywood Gossip, Pouleu's cousin and 'Biggest Loser' teammate Koli Palu gave an update on Pouleu's condition Sept. 5. "Sam Poueu has made serious improvement in the last few hours. He has become very responsive to [fiancee] Stephanie Anderson and his Mother, squeezing their hands and kicking his feet. The head trauma has pretty much stabilized. He still has a long way to go but thank you so much for your love and prayers," he wrote.

Poueu lost 142 pounds during his 2010 tenure on 'The Biggest Loser.'

Wishing him a speedy and complete recovery. He was an accomplished contestant and is a man of integrity. By the way, Sam was VOTED off...not KICKED off, as written in the article.

HUN IT WOULDNT MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL YOU ARE WHEN FALLING FROM SEVERAL LEVELS OF A BUILDING EITHER WAY GOOD SHAPE OR NOT YOU WILL BE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE, NOW WHY IN THE HELL DID HE JUMP COMON FALL SOMETHING IS UP WITH THIS.MAYBE THIS SHOW IS NOT WHAT ITS ALL CRACKED UP TO BE.

Just a guess, but all the exercize probably saved his life. He is a lot stronger now than he would have been if he had not lost the weight.

The reporter who wrote the article failed to list "head trauma" as one of the injuries, yet later quotes "Hollywood Reporter" as saying he's starting to move his toes and hand squeeze his fiance's hand. That doesn't sound like a guy w/ a few broken bones! So the Hollywood Reporter says he has head trauma, yet the AOL reporter only lists some broken bones initially. What a mess.
