'Glee' Sidelines Ashley Fink, 'ER' Star Joins 'Awake' & More TV Casting News

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 9th 2011 10:45AM
Ashley FinkAnother day, another 'Glee' cast shake-up story. We're more than a little bummed to report Ashley Fink's character is heading to the sidelines.

According to TVLine, Fink's Lauren Zizes character is quitting New Directions and ending her relationship with Puck (Mark Salling).

Why? Well, she's not part of the main cast and her storyline could be picked up down the line.

The main cast has already ballooned to close to 20 people, plus the guest stars from 'The Glee Project,' Idina Menzel and new players LeMarcus Tinker and Vanessa Lengies.

However, viewers might see Fink's Lauren here and there, just like they do Max Adler's Karofsky.

In other casting news ...

'Lie to Me' veteran Monica Raymund has joined the cast of 'The Good Wife.' Raymund will play a new prosecutor in Peter Florrick's State's Attorney office. Raymund will also appear on CBS's 'Blue Bloods.' [TV Guide]

'ER' and 'The Event' star Laura Innes has joined NBC's mid-season drama 'Awake.' Innes will play Captain Tricia Harper, boss to Jason Isaacs' character Michael Britten. [TVLine]

Jena Malone has joined the cast of 'Hatfields and McCoys.' Malone will play the ruthless Nancy McCoy in the History Channel film. [THR]

'Trading Spaces' host Paige Davis is getting an OWN show. Davis will host 'Home Made Simple,' a 20-episode daytime series premiering Sun., Oct. 23, 11AM. Davis and a team of experts will help people complete projects around their homes. From room makeovers to crafts and party-planning, they do it all. [USA Today]

. Fox star getting FEWER episodes. ( That is the way a communications professional might write the lead in, not LESS episodes) These reporters actually get paid for the junk they write and the grammer they use?

Such a shame. :( I liked Lauren!!! She and Puck were funny. Do we still have to OD on Rachel and Finn? The focus is on them WAY too much!

He-e-ey! I liked Lauren! I thought her show personality was terrific. Let's "whisper" the fact that she was a great role model for plus-sized high school girls, who until her character came along, had no clue as to how to battle back against their own personal insecurities. Unfortunately, with all of our beloved stars having real school years on the show, and with the Glee Project, I have a fear that all of my favorites will be departing sooner than later.

I agree, call me a stickler, but when a "communications professional" cannot be bothered to learn the simplest grammatical principles, it makes me doubt not only their professionalism, but also their committment to their craft.
Less when you cannot count them, as in "Less fattening"
Fewer when you can, as in "Fewer calories"
Quite simple, really.

I hope it has nothing to do with the fact that Fink is a plus-sized white girl, because that would be disappointing. I don't understand why they feel the need to cut characters the audience knows and loves to add new actors to the cast, though. It's a bad move on their part.
