Hannibal Lecter TV Series In the Works, TBS Buys Conan O'Brien Comedy Pilot & More

According to Deadline, 'Pushing Daisies' creator Bryan Fuller is at work on a one-hour drama series about the famous cannibal. 'Hannibal' will focus on Lecter's relationship with a young FBI profiler named Will Graham. Lecter's foil Graham is haunted by his knack for empathizing with serial killers. Fuller is executive producing with Martha De Laurentiis, producer of 'Hannibal,' 'Red Dragon' and 'Hannibal Rising.'

The 'Hannibal' project is part of the recently launched Gaumont International Television, run by NBC's former had of drama, Katie O'Connell. In addition to 'Hannibal,' the company is working on 'Madame Tussaud,' a six-hour miniseries from 'The Tudors' creator Michael Hirst.

Over in comedy land, TBS has ordered a pilot from Conan O'Brien. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the multi-camera comedy follows a centers a family man who leaves his day job and returns to his childhood neighborhood. While at home, the character reunites with his old best friend. O'Brien will serve as an executive producer.

Annie Wersching will guest star on 'Hawaii Five-0.' The '24' star will play Samantha Martel, the sister of a murder victim. [TV Guide]

ABC has bought another project from Shonda Rhimes. The untitled legal drama follows a defense lawyer who tries to start his own firm after being fired from his high-profile gig. But, his dismissal isn't as exactly cut and dry as it may seem: he may have came close to a deadly cover-up. [TV Guide]

NBC's new newsmagazine will be called 'Rock Center with Brian Williams.' "Hopefully our journalism will speak louder than any name. If it doesn't, perhaps people will tune in to 'Rock Center' hoping to see Tina Fey," Williams said in a statement. [LA Times]

Cheryl Ladd will guest star on 'NCIS.' Ladd will play Ducky's love interest. [EW]

'Hot in Cleveland' will welcome Sean Hayes, Sandra Bernhard, Kathie Lee Gifford and Laura San Giacomo for Season 3. San Giacomo previously appeared alongside series star Wendie Malick in 'Just Shoot Me.' Hayes is a producer on the show. [Vulture/TV Guide/EW]

'American Idol' veteran Diana DeGarmo will appear on 'The Young and the Restless.' She'll play Angelina, the Jersey-girl daughter of mobster Angelo (Mike Starr). [TV Guide]

Charlie Sheen will appear on 'Wendy Williams' on Sept. 19. Not only is this the same day Sheen's 'Comedy Central Roast' hits TV, it's also the premiere of 'Two and a Half Men.' [Deadline]
