Cathy's Not Ready for Lee to Give Up Fighting on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)

'The Big C' - 'Fight or Flight'Last week, Shawn disappeared from his home on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime). While he didn't return this week, a near-scare with a dead homeless man made Cathy panic about losing the people she cares about. And since she can't do anything about Shawn until he's found or returns, she turned her attention to Lee.

While she's had a good response to the treatments, Lee's body hasn't responded at all and he's progressing toward death with his cancer. Meanwhile, Cathy found out about Paul's scheme with Myk to make money on the side, so used some of that ill-gotten gain to get Lee a ticket to Germany.

There's a different drug trial going on there that might work better for him, but Lee has come to terms with his life and death, and was ready to just let nature take its course. Not that Cathy's going to let him do it without a fight.

"I'm trying to live my life, and for some reason you won't let me," he told her.

"Because you're not living it," she responded. "You're giving up." She then accused him of being selfish by choosing to die, but wasn't she being just as selfish by trying to choose for him to try another treatment plan?

In the end, she left Lee to his choice and decided that the rest of Paul's money should be used to take the family on vacation to Italy. She didn't know, though, that Myk has brought more into Paul's life than thievery.

I was a little disappointed to see Paul sink to doing cocaine, just so he could perform better at work. Isn't this kind of a blow-off job for him? It just doesn't seem to really fit his character, and reads more like the writers trying to inject a drug problem into the overall storylines.

It also adds another level of "bad" to Myk's character, just in time for his plans to propose to Andrea. The two of them have been so happy together through their courtship, so there has to be a huge disaster around the corner. Maybe the coke habit plays into that, or all of his illegal activities could get him into a bit of trouble.
