Tareq and Michaele SalahiMore wacky goings-on in the lives of White House party-crashers and erstwhile reality TV stars Tareq and Michaele Salahi this week ...

First, there were fears for Michaele's safety after Tareq reported her missing Wednesday. He told TMZ that he feared she'd been kidnapped when she didn't come home Tuesday night after contacting him via a series of strange phone calls.

The pair have become famous for their headline-grabbing antics, but in an interview with NBC Tareq denied it was all a publicity stunt: "I swear to God ... this is not a joke." He said he'd gone to the police because his wife had received numerous threats.

However, Michaele has turned up safe and sound in Tennessee ... having apparently run off with a rock star.

TMZ reports that police in Virginia contacted Tareq Wednesday afternoon to tell him that his wife was safe and well, and had not been kidnapped. But, she didn't want her husband to know where she was.

In a statement, the Warren County Sheriff's Dept. said a deputy spoke with Michaele, who "seemed calm, was engaged in conversation, and assured the deputy that she had left the residence with a good friend and was where she wanted to be."

The statement added that Michaele was "very sorry" that the Sheriff's Office had to be involved, but "she did not want to be home right now."

Why didn't Michaele want to return home? She's out on the road with Journey guitarist Neil Schon, with whom she allegedly previously enjoyed an "intimate and passionate relationship."

Journey are currently touring with Foreigner and Michaele took in their gig in Nashville Tuesday night before joining Schon for the trip to Memphis. A rep for Journey said "Nobody kidnapped her and they are in Memphis together."

The AP reports Tareq's attorney as saying Tareq is relieved that Michaele is safe, but is also devastated that she's apparently left him. David Silek told ABC's 'Good Morning America' early Thursday that it's premature to say if the couple will get a divorce.

Just in case Tareq wants to know where Michaele might now be headed: Friday night Journey are playing at Aarons Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta, Ga.
