Blythe Danner Joins 'Up All Night,' Snoop Dogg Sitcom in the Works & More TV Casting News

Blythe DannerBlythe Danner is staying 'Up All Night' with Christina Applegate.

According to Deadline, Danner will play Applegate's mother on the NBC comedy about new parents.

Danner is no stranger to playing mom to an NBC star. The Emmy winner recurred on 'Will & Grace' as Will's (Eric McCormack) mother.

'Up All Night' debuted to strong ratings, grabbing 3.7 million in the coveted 18-49 demographic and a total of 10.9 million viewers.

In other casting news ...

'30 Rock' is looking for a new lover for Liz Lemon. The official description of the character: "California-bred with liberal values and a youthful innocence. Easy-going but confident with a strong sense of self." [EW]

Fred Savage will direct and guest star in an upcoming episode of 'Happy Endings.' Savage directed an episode of the ABC comedy last season. [EW]

'Jersey Shore' star Vinny Guadagnino will guest star on '90210.' However, he's not playing himself. Instead, Vinny will play a celebrity who enters a high-stakes poker game with Liam. [TVLine]

Snoop Dogg ... sitcom star? The rapper has teamed with Don Reo for a multi-camera family sitcom. Snoop will star as the father. [Deadline]

'The Voice' winner Javier Colon will guest star on 'The Playboy Club.' Colon will play legendary singer Ray Charles and perform 'Let the Good Times Roll. [TVLine]

Louis Gossett Jr. and Sara Rue are stopping by 'Psych.' The two will play two of Lassiter's neighbors. [EW]

'Rescue Me' actress Olivia Crocicchia will guest star on 'CSI: NY.' She'll play Kate, a high school girl who becomes a suspect in the murder of another girl at a party. [TV Guide]

Melody Thomas Scott is returning to 'The Young and the Restless.' After being off the show since April, the actress will appear in new episodes beginning in November. [TV Guide]

Ken Kercheval is returning to 'Dallas.' Kercheval will reprise the Cliff Barnes role, J.R. Ewing's nemesis, for multiple episodes of the new TNT reboot. [TV Guide]
