Did Chuck Lorre Try to Boot Charlie Sheen From the Emmys?

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 19th 2011 10:30AM
Charlie SheenCharlie Sheen made headlines for his surprise Emmy appearance and gracious remarks to his former co-stars. However, the moment was almost squashed by his 'Two and a Half Men' bosses.

According to Deadline, Chuck Lorre, 'Men' co-creator and executive producer, tried to get Sheen booted from the telecast.

Lorre reportedly approached John Shaffner, the chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, about getting Sheen out of the telecast. Warner Bros. Television Group honcho Bruce Rosenblum made a call to Fox chairman Peter Rice trying to get Sheen's appearance cut.

Sheen is currently suing Lorre and Warner Bros. TV and they were afraid he'd use his time at the microphone to slam the show and other nominees from Lorre-produced shows. He did the opposite.

"From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season." Sheen said to his former cast. "We spent eight wonderful years together and I know you will continue to make great television."

Check out the video of his speech below.

what a flop! You really need Charlie back if you want any ratings. The show is now GOOFY with this Ashton guy. I don`t know how he ever made it in Hollywood. It`s now a waste of time for me to watch the show. I`d get more laughs from Sponge Bob. Aero`s comment is right, The show is lost!

He's the man..As you can see from first new episode Ashton has no acting ability..Now the show is lost..They didn't need Kutchner to revive anything as he's already dead.Camera commericals is all he's good for as nobody wants dumb dum..Im surprised if the show makes it three weeks.Ratings are already at 2.5 stars..The show was good somewhat in the beginning ..but excuse me!! This was all about Lorre wanting to smash Charlie as best he could and now he is gonna be the one to fall..Charlie will bounch back because he's a pro..

Wow, this lorre guy is seriously nuts. The first half of the show was childish jabs at the gay diseased and better dead Charlie. I thought Sheen was the crazy one!

He should have never been allowed to be on the show. Shame on Hollywood.

Charlie Sheen is doing to little to late . He has shown what an idiot he is. His true self. I do not want to see anything that he might do in the future. He has only himself to blame. He was the one who flew off the handle and acted like a jerk. Two and a half men will do good without him. Suck it up and leave things be. Maybe in time people might forgive and forget!
