Rugby Coach Puts a New Spin on a Classic Song on 'The X Factor' (VIDEO)

Caitlin Koch, 'The X Factor'While Simon Cowell is surely disappointed with 'The X Factor' (Thu., 8PM ET on FOX) not coming out and dominating the ratings the way 'American Idol' does every year, the premiere was still a solid premiere for the network, and there's always room to grow.

He's going to do that by showing us amazing singers and amazing stories, like rugby coach and player Caitlin Koch in this second episode. She put a new twist on 'Stop! In the Name of Love' and captures the spirit of what the show could be.

But it spent so long early in the episode getting us to those types of performances that give us goosebumps, that Cowell's going to lose what audience he did muster up for the premiere. He needs to sprinkle brilliance throughout these early episodes, or we're going to wonder if they just didn't find that much talent on the road.

As for the ratings, there's no reason to sweat just yet. Early audition rounds had been slipping for 'Idol' as well, and when 'The X Factor' moves on to Bootcamp and the Judges' Houses, they'll surely be enlisting some A-list talent from the music industry to help with the mentoring and decisions, as they do in international versions of the show.

In fact, it might not hurt to start promoting some of those names sooner rather than later, Mr. Cowell. It never hurts to promote the next stage of the competition, as no one in America yet really knows how this show is going to differentiate itself from 'American Idol.'

Check out Josh Krajcik on YouTube.com singing his own song "Shut Your Mouth" and you'll be convinced he's about to be a huge star. Really great to find an American artist of this caliber hidden amongst us. An amazing talent.

The show feels fake and plastic compared to Idol audition shows. At least half of the "bad" acts are actors hired to do that.
However, that rugby coach has a badonkadonk that defies gravity. Truly amazing.

When Coach Koch sang she melted my heart. I guess LA Reid feels the same too..
