Jaleel White Reminisces About 'Family Matters' and Previews His 'House' Character (VIDEO)
Jaleel White is the rare child star who's come through the other side of his early celebrity doing just fine. Although he endured some fallow years career-wise after his 'Family Matters' days, the artist formerly known as Steve Urkel never had a public-meltdown, stayed in shape and is about to kick-start the second act of his TV career with a role on 'House.'White dropped by 'The Wendy Williams Show,' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) where he assured Wendy that he's still getting paid well off 'Family Matters' residuals, told some old stories and previewed his 'House' character.
Wendy being Wendy, she asked White about the awkwardness of going through puberty on TV while having to wear his pants hiked up so high. "In the last season I was pretty much only wearing khakis, and that was because the network was given notes about the tightness of the jeans," he said.
He also previewed his upcoming 'House' character. White plays a prison inmate drug-dealer who gets House "what he needs." It sounds like quite a departure from Urkel.
