NBC Delays Premieres of 'Chuck' and 'Grimm'

'Chuck' castIt's that time in the fledgling fall season when talk turns to which shows will be cancelled and which will survive. Network schedulers often have to tweak the lineup depending on how various shows are doing in the ratings.

Which is why we're interested to hear that NBC -- home of struggling newbies 'The Playboy Club' and 'Free Agents' -- has decided to push back the premiere episodes of new drama 'Grimm' and old favorite 'Chuck.'

According to HitFix, both premieres will now air on October 28, one week later than originally planned, so that NBC can promote the debut of fairy tale-inspired 'Grimm' closer to Halloween.

'Grimm' is a police procedural with a twist: It follows the adventures of a homicide detective who sees things other people can't, and who discovers that he's descended from an elite line of criminal profilers charged with keeping the balance between two worlds. Inspired by 'Grimm's Fairy Tales' it was one of several projects originally mooted for the fall season with a mythological or supernatural flavor.

Despite the scheduling change the omens may not be good for 'Grimm.' AOL TV's Mo Ryan included it in her list of this fall season's least promising shows, criticizing its "bland leads and stories full of shortcuts."

Meanwhile, veteran spy caper 'Chuck' is returning for its fifth and final season. The premiere episode, 'Chuck vs. the Zoom,' features guest appearances by Luke Skywalker Mark Hamill and Craig Kilborn as baddies. We can't wait!

'Chuck' Season 5 premieres Friday Oct. 28, 8PM ET on NBC.

'Grimm' Series premieres Friday Oct. 28, 9PM ET on NBC.
