Kinfolk 9 Put a Gospel Spin on The Beatles for 'The Sing-Off' (VIDEO)

On 'The Sing-Off' (Mon., 8PM ET on NBC), we flipped back to the first bracket, which featured stand-out supergroup Delilah in the first week of the competition. But could they match their stellar vocals on 'Grenade' when featuring other members of the group on lead? This week, the six remaining contenders in this group had to sing two songs each. First was a contemporary pop song followed by a classic hit from the 1960s. Things were switched up quite a bit this week, with some new voices rising to the top, and one group falling short.
Kinfolk 9 had a mixed night, with an alright opening round, but an absolutely stellar gospel take on The Beatles' 'Let It Be' to close out the show. But when it came time for the results, they found themselves in the bottom with Delilah.
In the end, the women of Delilah were given another shot, and Kinfolk 9 were sent packing. It was a disappointing result after such an incredible performance, but as a relatively new group made up of solo singers, they need time to hone their harmonies and connectivity if they're going to stick with this musical style.
Urban Method stole the show in both rounds, displaying an incredible diversity beyond what we saw with their take on 'Love the Way You Lie' last week. They tackled both The Black Eyed Peas and Sly and the Family Stone, and were amazing. This isn't just a group that raps and does hip-hop; they've got serious singing chops and their backing vocals are astonishing.
