Could the New 'Arrested Development' Season Head to Hulu?

'Arrested Development' movie rumors are so 2007. Rumors about the new season of 'Arrested Development' are all the rage now!

According to Vulture, Hulu is making a play for the recently announced mini-season that will lead up to the 'Arrested Development' film. Showtime and Netflix are also reportedly interested in the new project.

Arrested Development Reunion

The show is available on Hulu and Netflix to watch instantly, and a Vulture source says Hulu has seen more than 100 million streams on 'Arrested' content since 2008. After airing for three low-rated seasons on Fox, it's unlikely the series would air on the network or any of its cable sisters because of its limited run. The networks are all about establishing hits, and in that regard 'Arrested' already had its chance.

Each episode of the proposed new series would focus on one character, making it more economical to produce. The series and movie would film at the same time, the idea being the TV network -- or online viewing destination -- would split the cost with the movie studio.

'Arrested' creator Mitch Hurwitz made the new season/movie announcement during a cast reunion panel at The New Yorker Festival. The movie has been rumored to be in the works since the show was canceled in 2006. Each time an 'Arrested' veteran had a new project coming out, the rumors picked up again. This time, it seems likely to happen ... as long as a network is found.

With the reported interest from both Netflix and Hulu, it looks like the Bluth family is well on their way to making a comeback.
