'The Good Wife' Season 3, Episode 3 Recap

The Good Wife Season 3, Episode 3 Recap['The Good Wife' - 'Get a Room']

Ladies and gentlemen, it's the moment you've been waiting for: Lisa Edelstein is in 'The Good Wife' house. Pun intended!

After last week's sluggish and rather boring episode, 'The Good Wife' was firing on all cylinders once again, but with maybe a tad too much going on. I appreciated that it wasn't the Lisa Edelstein show, but again I was more interested in the side case featuring Eli and Diane. Buddy sitcom starring the two of them? Sign me up!

And let's not forget the return of Dallas Roberts as Owen, Alicia's lovable brother who makes every single scene that much better. He's the best thing to happen to 'The Good Wife.'

Will and Alicia went up against Edelstein's Celeste, Will's ex. A doctor implanted a non-FDA approved device in Lockhart/Gardner's client's back. It malfunctioned and the two sides went to mediation to settle.

What 'The Good Wife' Season 3 has been lacking so far -- yes, I know it's only three episodes in -- is the emotional investment in the clients. The lady in this one was hardly present and the cheese people were just props for Eli and Diane. If it's going to be more about the characters that's great, but squeezing in somewhat complicated procedural case elements just bogs the episode down.

Eventually, Alicia and Will got Celeste's clients to settle. Meanwhile, Eli got his feet wet with Lockhart/Gardner. His cheese story wasn't resolved and I feel like it was the amuse bouche for bigger, better things this season. Actually, this entire episode felt like it was setting up for things to come.

The first two episodes of the season felt like filler, but with Celeste making her debut, Eli and Lockhart/Gardner finally really working together, Kalinda and Cary's scene and Alicia's startling realization at the end of the episode, I'm finally seeing things clearly in terms of the Season 3 big picture.

Will Celeste really end up at Lockhart/Gardner? I kind of hope so. Shake up Will and Alicia, give Diane somebody to butt heads with and we'll be good.

Kalinda and Cary ... OTP? Their quick scene was one of my favorites this episode. Kalinda is obviously still shaken up by her blowout with Alicia. The dynamic between them has always been fun and Cary calling Kalinda out on her manipulation tactics was joyous. Alicia's fury pierced her armor, Kalinda is vulnerable and that makes for excellent TV.

How was there a 'Good Wife' without Owen? The way Owen deals with Alicia is beyond perfection. His ability to humanize the saintly character has been a godsend. Plus, I'm pretty sure he and I had the same face when Grace and her tutor showed up on screen. Oh, and kudos to CBS for having the gay kiss!

Is it love? Well, is it? Alicia says she's not in love with Will and her face at the end, coupled with the final scene of episode 1, leads me to believe she's telling the truth. We would have never been able to have that character development done with such expertise if Owen hadn't been introduced.

Gasp count: 2.

Some other fun things:

Owen calling Alicia a prudish, wanton woman is the perfect example of their relationship.

The mediator bursting Alicia's cocky bubble kind of made my night. I love Alicia as a character, but she was getting a bit too pleased with her scheming ways. She was playing him, she tried to play Celeste too, but those bangs can't hide all the deceit.

What did you think of the episode? Do you think Alicia loves Will? Do you want Kalinda and Cary to explore their feelings?

'The Good Wife' airs Sundays, 9PM ET on CBS

First, I was annoyed because CBS Amazing Race didn't end until 8:30 CST. That screwed up my dvr (AT&T uverse) as it didn't change the starting time of Good Wife. So lucky enough I was taping both Good Wife and CSI Miami. Then the too jammed pack episode. For some odd reason Alicia's brother irks me right along with the grandmother. They deserve to be with each other so they can annoy each other.

WTF? Come on, Alicia is in love with Will. EVERYTHING proves. it's just she's afraid. Her face at the end also proves she didn't think what she said.

I'm with you on that one Angelique. If she would have said, "no I'm not" and leaped off the couch with a smile on her face. I would have said, well that took care of that. But the fact that she had a very worried look on her face, right on the heels of Owen's, "that would make things very complicated" comment, makes you realize that things are about to get very complicated.

That other girl looks like the guy who played a transvestite on Ally McBeal!
