'Field Trip' was a solid example of classic 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS) comedy. There were multiple storylines weaving through one another, each revealing bits about our characters and most importantly, progressing things in their lives.

Let's face it, we like the idea of change and growth on 'HIMYM.' It is, after all, supposed to be the story of how Ted found the woman he would later marry. Thus, we are inherently watching these people grow up and make big changes in their lives.

It was a little weird thinking of Ted as the only single one in the group right now, but we have to give credit where it's due. The evolution from patient-therapist to boyfriend-girlfriend was masterfully handled. It made perfect sense to anyone who'd watched it evolve.

To Ted's architect class -- and Ted and Barney for that matter -- who just knew Kevin as Robin's therapist, "it's creepy." But it works. And while Barney seemed to be looking for an excuse to get rid of Nora, he ultimately didn't.

Which means Marshall and Lily have each other. Barney has Nora and Robin has Kevin. It's about time the writers returned to the love life that's supposed to be at the center of this story. At least let him hook up with somebody soon, even if it isn't the mother yet.
