CBS Pulls 'How to Be a Gentleman' From Saturdays

How to Be a Gentleman Pulled From ScheduleIt's time to really say goodbye to 'How to Be a Gentleman.' CBS has pulled the fledgling comedy from its Saturday schedule after only one airing.

Originally airing on Thursdays after ratings hit 'The Big Bang Theory,' the freshman comedy was shuffled off to Saturdays and production was shut down. Now after one Saturday show, it looks like this is truly the end for 'How to Be a Gentleman.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Sat., Oct. 15 airing was watched by 2.4 million total viewers and had a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The show's lead-in, a rerun of 'Two and a Half Men,' was watched by 3.6 million viewers and had a 0.9 18-49 rating.

Created, written by and starring David Hornsby, 'How to Be a Gentleman' was based on the book of the same name by John Bridges. 'Entourage' star Kevin Dillon and '24' scene-stealer Mary Lynn Rajskub rounded out the cast. The show premiered to 9 million viewers, but fell to 7.5 million viewers in its second Thursday outing.

The show's Thursdays at 8:30PM timeslot will now be occupied by 'Rules of Engagement.'

Didn't watch it. Saw the previews and they never drew even an inkling of interest for me to watch. VERY, VERY glad that Rules of Engagement is back on Thursday nights.

Last years William Shatner sitcom "S#!%, My Dad Said" was better than "Gentleman" (and had better ratings) . CBS is in the enviable position of being able to cancel better shows than the other networks even broadcast (not that "Gentleman" was in any way better). Two seasons ago CBS gave up on "New Adventures of Old Christine" even though it had higher rating than almost every other sitcom on the other networks (and virtually ever show on NBC for the past three years).

If a new comedy doesn't say "vagina" or "boobs" once every show, it won't make the cut.

It gets me upset that days like yesterday there is nothing on till 8 o'clock and then up all night and the middle comes on the at 830 whitney and suburgatory comes on then that 's it they have modern family on which sucks the only reason it stays on is because of the gay couple and harry's law sucks . so back to my point why so they put the only shows I will watch on at the same time . The only thing that is helping this year is all the retro show on

comment on " how to be a gentleman "...... I could say so many things,.... none of them nice... but to the point.... it just wasn't funny . Among all of the bad points.... I blame the writers. The guy ( what ever his name is )... who plays the macho gym guy was so WAY over the top,.. he was not only NOT funny,... he was NOT likeable . If the charicter was not so extreme , ( and unbeleavable )... I might have watched it a second time .
.
And now to " Whitney "....yikes !.... no , seriously.... YIKES ! Where do I start ? The leading man, ( what ever his name ).... needs a make-over,... and quickly. He is not pleasant to look at . Whitney.... what is with all of the makeup ? I mean , get real girl ! I know... sex sells ( I think they call that prostution )... BUT , in a sitcom, if you have to rely on " sex"... and an OVERUSED laugh track.... face it... the writing just isn't funny !
.

Thanks for the common sense ..I watched and thought it was out of it's league on network prime time ..Good writting and decent premise can't cover up the lack of talent of the cast ... Even Foley a sesond vet was weak ... Good job Cutting your losses ...

The only bad thing about 'How To Be A Gentleman' getting cancelled is that 'Rules of Engagement' is back. Does David Spade have pictures of some network exec committing a crime against nature or something? Because he sucks, yet he always manages to get a show.

The worst new show? There are so many to choose from. Playboy Club, PanAm are in there. There are so many good non network programs and HBO and Showtime have a great selection.
