CBS Celebrates Eye Logo Anniversary

CBS EyeFor 60 years the CBS logo has been watching you watch TV. The iconic eye logo debuted 60 years ago on Oct. 20, 1951 and has been an ever-present fixture on the network.

"From the Network to the Corporation, the CBS Eye is an enduring asset of our company and a major source of pride for all of us," Leslie Moonves, president and CEO of CBS Corporation, said in a statement. "It is a corporate logo that is known and respected all around the world, and continues to be a fitting symbol of CBS's proud history and ongoing leadership."

To celebrate the big birthday, CBS.com is replacing its homepage's current CBS Eye with the original logo and providing visitors an explanation of its significance and history.

At 8PM ET, the network will broadcast a segment showcasing the various logos throughout the years.

My twin sister and I were born the same month, day and year as the eye logo. Good things never go out of style, lol.

I liked "The Munsters" theme from the second season as well as "Lost In Space" second season. My favorite will always be "The Monkees" theme.

The shows from the late 70's and early 80's, on CBS, were so much better and fun to watch every week. Ahh, the old days of television. I miss it so.....And I loved how the eye logo looked in those days too. LOL!

The only two shows I watch on TV are Hawaii 5 0 and NCIS. No other network has even one show worth watching.

AAHHH YESSSS! The old days! During the first two logos, they had good movies and shows. Nowadays.......crap! Any channel that has stupid reality shows are pure crap. Sorry that I had to state the truth.

What about Carol Burnett's theme song? I kind of liked the Munsters' theme oh and don't forget Dark Shadows. Patty Duke- Okay Maybe not such a great song but memorable--They walk alike, They talk alike....but they're cousins, identical cousins... You know when I think about it, I liked Patty Duke but come on, identical cousins? Also, Sidney Sheldon created it. That made me think of I Dream of Jeannie's second theme, not the first when it first was on in black and white. Oh yeah, Bewitched. Memories...
