Money Brings Out the Best and Worst of Contestants on 'The Amazing Race' (VIDEO)

Money is rarely a deciding factor on 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), but it played a huge part this week. One particular cab ride proved incredibly expensive for many teams, costing them virtually all of their money.Ernie and Cindy, who didn't convert their money from US dollars, didn't even seem to try to figure out how much money the driver needed. They simply threw $100 at him and assumed it was good. Unfortunately, the fare was closer to $150 US.
Rather than pay it in good grace, they both behaved rather horribly, telling him he was a terrible drive and acting like the victims in the whole thing.
At least they had the good grace to feel badly about it afterward. The outburst was triggered by the bus they needed pulling away while they were fighting, but it doesn't excuse it. There should be a penalty for rudeness to the local people.
It was an even worse time for Liz and Marie, who wound up actually running out of money halfway through the leg. Because of the poorness of the surrounding people, they decided they didn't want to beg for money or free cab rides. That is, until they found out they were about a five-hour walk from their next destination.
They convinced two different cab drivers to give them free lifts, but by the time they reached the mat, they were in last place again, and this time it was an elimination leg. If they'd thought to try for a free ride sooner, they might still be in it.
