'The X Factor' to Cut Five Acts on Tonight's First Live Show

'The X Factor' judgesHaving faced accusations of being boring and of spinning out meager action for far too long, 'The X Factor' producers have decided to ramp up the action for tonight's first live show. Their anti-boredom solution? A mass cull. Of contestants, that is. (Superfluous-seeming host Brian Dunkleman Steve Jones is not, contrary to rumors, being fired: "Our Welshie is staying for the long haul.")

A message on the show's official Twitter page reads: "Breaking news! 5 of the 17 acts will be eliminated by the judges on 10/25." As tonight's live show will clock in at a mammoth two and a half hours long, that's roughly one elimination per pulse-quickening 30 minutes.

The surviving 12 acts will perform for the public vote on another live show, airing Wednesday November 2. That will be followed by a live results show on Thursday November 3.

Judge Paula Abdul Tweeted her support for the acts that she's been mentoring: "TO MY GROUPS: i'm in my dressing room right now thinking about how proud i am of all of you & what you're about to do LIVE tomorrow night!"

Fellow judge L.A. Reid was a bit more enigmatic with his advice, Tweeting "Try not to become a person of success but a person of value."

Thirty-two acts made it past Boot Camp to the "Judges' Houses" stage of the competition, where each judge has been mentoring a group of four acts (or five if you're Mr. Greedy, Simon Cowell). Paula has the groups, L.A. Reid has the boys, Simon has the girls (natch) and Nicole Scherzinger has the over-30s.

Last week those 32 were whittled down to 17. The acts facing the chop tonight are:

The Groups The Brewer Boys, Lakoda Rayne, InTENsity, The Stereo Hogzz.
The Boys Brian "Astro" Bradley, Chris Rene, Phillip Lomax, Marcus Canty.
The Girls Simone Battle, Drew Ryniewicz, Tiah Tolliver, Rachel Crow, Melanie Amaro.
The Over-30s Josh Krajcik, Dexter Haygood, Leroy Bell, Stacy Francis.

Who do you want to make it through to the live performance round next week?

Live show airs tonight, Tuesday October 25, at 8PM ET on Fox.

When it's not being moved to make way for sports, 'The X Factor' airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8PM ET on Fox.

I do believe that Kim Kardashian is just a very selfish individual........she could have certainly stopped this entire "money making wedding" before it began. But no. Money, money money. Perhaps she does want a family, a husband and children but I do think money and fame is what actually drives this lady (I called her a "lady"?....oops). What really flows through her veins? You guessed it! Money and fame. I have no sympathy for sucha cold person....no sympathy, no respect and certainly HER UGLY IS SHOWING..........inside AND out!
