President Obama Talks Reality TV, Ignoring the GOP Field on 'The Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

Too many people on here that are just clueless... yeah go ahead and blame one man for all the problems that corporate greed, wallstreet, a corrupt and BOUGHT congress, and a failing two party system.
But for christ sakes.. dont blame one man! Rome did not fall in a day, and this crap can be traced back ALL the way to Regan... yes thats right... your Lord and saviour Ronald Reagan.

One way FDR reached out to the country when we were in the first (and worse) financial situation this country ever faced... He would go on the Radio, and speak to the country in what was refferred to as "Fireside Chats" All Obama is doing is trying to reach out in anyway he can...

There exist many similarities between the current economic debacle and the Great Depression of 1929 ( however we are not at 25% unemployment and many other aspects).Speculation and a failing banking system was a common theme to both situations. A lack of regulation contributed to both situations. Cheap money and leverage are now only seen in retrospect.There were those who bought multiple houses for speculation with no money down and the public in FDR’s days bought stock on crazy margin.In both cases total disrespect for risk.
Roosevelt faced great controversy over his programs at the time. The New Deal represented a massive shift in political and domestic policy in the U.S., with its more lasting changes being increased federal government control over the economy. There were calls of socialism and even communism. Besides the common dispair in both economic situations, FDR and Obama both had/have the talent of charisma. Masses showed up in Washington for Obama’s inauguration. FDR held fire side chats to comfort the public.

As much as things are similar they are different. The world today is more complex. We have derivative products that no one knows how to evaluate and a world economy. FDR did not have that. One distinct difference was the attitude of spending. FDR was uncertain initially. The choice for FDR was not so clear and it seemed/seems that neither president had an obvious path to success. In FDR’s days his loyal advisers John Maynard Keynes suggested that he should spend more to revive the U.S. economy. However FDR did not initially agree and actually cut federal spending in 1937. He eventually did spend and initiated many drastic programs. What is fascinating is that Obama seems to be taking the advice of those who served under FDR “SPEND”! Both Obama and FDR are/were confronted from competing pressures over whether to spend more money or cut taxes. Contrarily Obama has taken the route to spend without any hesitation. There are no easy answers, Where is the money suppose to come from? When will the FED start paying attention to the deficit. Yesterday we saw a knee jerk reaction of inflation. Commodities flew off the charts and the US dollar got hit. The fact is all this spending long term is unsustainable and inflation is a natural outcome. Inflation itself is a wealth destroyer. Which is worse the medicine or the disease?

In retrospect the real question was it FDRs programs and public works that got the US out of the Depression or was it World War 2?
The need for manufacturing and military spending was an impetus. Gd forbid we have to have another World War to get us out of this economic disaster. What do you think?

Like father like daughters. He doesn't want his daughters watching reality TV like the way he 'avoids' reality. After he got elected he went to a city where some friends of mine live. Gonna bring jobs to their county. At the other end of their county! He made it sound like their city, where several companies had closed and hundreds of people had lost their jobs. Instead he 'brings' less than 200 jobs to a small town, far away, making it sound like he helped an entire county!

Obama's accomplishments? Choking our economy--obamacare, dodd frank, and huge expansion of EPA. More spending and name calling at every moment.

Obama passed obamacare at a time when we could least afford it, I thought bush was being blamed for bailouts that averted the depression (by the way, there's more to come), obama expanded the EPA, Department of Energy, and department of education when we are trying to reduce spending. His dodd frank and EPA choke job growth. Obama has done a lot, but not in the best interests of the country.

When you go down the list of Obama's achievements, he did avert a depression; he did save the American automobile industry; he got healthcare passed, which wasn't perfect but neither was Social Security, but you've got to start somewhere; Wall Street reform, the Consumer Protection Bureau, student loans, credit card reform; got the troops out of Iraq, repealed Don't Ask Don't Tell, appointed 2 women to the Supreme Court, shot bin Laden in the face....that's a pretty impressive resume. If you just presented the Republicans with President Obama's resume & didn't say who it was they would erect statues to this guy.

I've become a big fan of this type of banter as of late. The Democrats insult the republicans, the Republicans insult the Democrats, so on and so forth. Yet at the end of the day they pass just about the same policies and support just about the same ideals, with minor ideological differences, and America still believes there's a difference between either party. P.T. Barnum would be proud.

STOP AND THINK ABOUT SOMETHING , JUST ABOUT EVERY STREET CORNER HAS A "BUYING GOLD SIGN"
PEOPLE THAT HAVE MONEY ARE TRADING THEIR U.S. PAPER FOR GOLD. THE U.S. IS SO FAR IN DEPT THAT SOON OUR MONEY WONT BE WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITEN ON. IF WE KEEP ELECTING PEOPLE TO WASHINGTON THAT JUST KEEP SPENDING OUR MONEY.. WE HAVE TO MAKE SACRIFICES NOW AND CUT OUR DEFICIT ..BUSH STARTED ALL THIS BUT OBAMA HAS TAKEN IT TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL. WAKE UP OR FACE ANARCHY THAT EUROPE IS SEEING NOW.
