Kaley Cuoco to Host People's Choice Awards, Lou Diamond Phillips Books 'Southland' Role & More Casting News

Kaley Cuoco People's Choice Awards'Big Bang Theory' star Kaley Cuoco will host People's Choice Awards in 2012. The ceremony airs Wed., Jan. 12 at 9PM ET on CBS.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kaley as the new host of People's Choice Awards 2012," Mark Burnett, executive producer, said in a statement. "She's been making people laugh on top-rated comedy series for the last decade, first with '8 Simple Rules' and now with 'The Big Bang Theory,' Thursday's #1 show. I'm looking forward to working with her on a fun-filled, comedy-packed show in January."

In other casting news ...

Eric Winter will star opposite Tricia Helfer in TNT's 'Scent of the Missing.' Winter will play Jake, a member of the K-9 search and rescue squad Helfer's Susannah works with. [Deadline]

Lou Diamond Phillips will guest star on 'Southland.' Phillips will appear in the Season 4 premiere as Danny Ferguson, a cynical and intimidating beat cop. Look for him to clash with Ben and Sammy. [TV Guide]

'True Blood' actors Kevin Alejandro and Grant Bowler are heading to 'GCB.' Alejandro will play Danny, a local butcher who has his eyes on Marisol Nichols' character, Heather. Bowler will appear in two episodes as Mason Massey, a thoroughbred horse breeder who interacts with Miriam Schor's character, Cricket. [EW]

'White Collar' star Marsha Thomason is heading to Brooklyn. Thomason will appear on two episodes of '2 Broke Girls' as Cashandra, a romantic rival for Max (Kat Dennings). [TVLine]
