Zach Makes Offensive Homophobic Comment on 'The Real World' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 27th 2011 1:30AM
'The Real World'There seems to have been a theme throughout this season of 'The Real World' (Wed., 10PM ET on MTV) about homophobia, or at least insensitivity to homosexuality. It doesn't even necessarily seem intentional on the part of the straight housemates, but their words and actions are sending a negative message to Sam, Frank and the viewers.

This week, when Sam approached Zach to let him know that she and Ashley were waiting on him, a verbal argument over the ping-pong paddles escalated. Zach accused her of wanting him to go get ready so she could play, and she countered by saying she would throw the paddles over the edge of the porch.

"I will beat the gay out of you if you throw these paddles off the porch," he snapped. "Don't play that game with me."

Likely, Zach wasn't trying to attack her in a homophobic way, but those are the words he used, and that's the message that he was sending across. He was basically saying that her sexuality was something he could target in the same way that a racist would target a person's ethnicity.

Has anyone ever noticed how one sided the 'free speech' argument is?

Everyone is quick to shout 1st amendment, but they always stop short of #2...

Given this frame of logic, if heteros have the RIGHT to spew whatever garbage comes out their heads, shouldn't homos have the RIGHT to blow their heads off?

You know...since I was a little boy..FAGGOT, HOMO, QUEER and MANY other words were ALWAYS used to describe these SICK People..everyone grew up...NO one got hurt..so WHY the Change..it was WRONG then..and it,s WRONG NOW! I refuse to say GAY..that means HAPPY..has NOTHING to do with being QUEER! How in the HELL did it go from being a SIN to these people NOW demanding Public Apologizes when someone uses the PROPER NAME! DO we take EVERYTHING that has more than ONE meaning and scrap it...HELL NO..if they don,t like it...TOUGH S**T..and THAT is what EVERY person should tell them..ya don,t like it...do something about it...STOP saying I am sorry for doing NOTHING wrong...SORRY is the MOST OVERUSED word in the WORLD, People THINK that to say..I,m Sorry makes EVERYTHING wonderful again...WELL..it don,t..I am sick and tired of that worf...I loved the good ol days when ya told someone to shut up and they said...Make Me...GROW up people..say ANY WORD ya want..THIS is AMERICA..start fighting back....

"Offensive Homophobic comment"---nice spin Huffington Post. "Phobic" means scared of (which I am not) and offensive---not one bit to me and millions of others. There is nothing wrong with pointing out sinful behavior at any level.

If a comment that is considered a homophobic or racially motivated one involving gays, lesbians, midgets, hispanics, blacks, asians, whites etc. etc. then tell me why it's not considered as offensive and a "NO NO" to hear people call someone ugly, fat, smelly, slutty, bony, retarded, etc...

that could and probably is very offensive to them such people as well..no? but it appears that it's ok to hurt these people's feelings? if there's gonna be rules that we abide by as a society, then it's only right to include ALL of the other so called offensive and hurtful opinions about these folk's handicaps as well...just my opinion!
