Kate Winslet Carried Richard Branson's Mother From a House Fire (VIDEO)
Kate Winslet is a hero, though not to hear her tell it. Apparently, in her reality, everybody runs toward a burning fire and carries people down the stairs and to safety. She was more concerned about her support, or lack thereof, on 'The Graham Norton Show' (Sat., 10PM ET on BBC America).Actually, in the moment when a fire broke out at Richard Branson's house, she decided she wasn't concerned at all.
"I started to put on a bra, then I thought, No that's gonna take me too long," she revealed. This was, apparently, a detail the press did not feel their readers needed to know in their reports of the dramatic incident, so Winslet filled us in.
She was surprised by her own actions, when recalling that she ran toward the fire. "In disastrous moments like that, you do the strangest things," she declared. But what Winslet did was very brave, gathering up the children and then carrying Eva Branson down the stairs.
Bra or not, she may well have saved someone's life, and in our book that's a pretty heroic thing to do.
