When bullets are in short supply and zombies are not, it's a pretty desperate situation. That's the position Shane and Otis found themselves in this week on 'The Walking Dead' (Sun., 10PM ET on AMC), when trying to escape the high school with the medicines Carl needs.

When we last saw the pair, they were fast running out of bullets, and with Shane's limp the situation looked dire indeed. And then the truck pulled up to Hershel's and Shane revealed that Otis didn't make it. But we didn't see what happened -- at least not right away.

Or did we? That opening scene with Shane shaving his head didn't make much sense then, but by the end of the episode it did. Otis had ripped out a chunk of his hair after Shane shot him in the leg with his last bullet to buy himself some time.

People do shocking things when faced with horrific death, but sentencing someone else to that death is pretty cold. Was he thinking it was justice because Otis accidentally shot Carl, or was it just self-preservation?
