The Good Wife Affairs of State Recap['The Good Wife' - 'Affairs of State']

Just going to put this out there right now: Please let Parker Posey come back to 'The Good Wife.'

'The Good Wife' seems to have gotten its groove back after stumbling out of the gate with the first few episodes of Season 3. In 'Affairs of State,' Alicia and Caitlin worked to protect their client from rape and murder charges as the State Department went back and forth about his diplomatic immunity to the benefit of Cary. Meanwhile, Eli used Kalinda to vet his ex-wife, Vanessa (Posey), who wanted to run for political office.

Cary's new home. It was a Cary-centric episode, which was refreshing since he's only been hanging out in the background for the first few episodes. His triumph over Lockhart/Gardner got him a big new office, cementing his place at the State's Attorney office. The new office and Cary's storyline was necessary to establish a home for his character. After last year where he toyed with the idea of rejoining Lockhart/Gardner, it seemed like the writers were just treading water with the character, unsure of where they'd send him next.

Parker Posey, where is your show? I would watch a TV show about Vanessa running for office in an instant. Political dramedy, anybody? But, I doubt that'll happen anytime soon. Turns out Vanessa had an affair with a member of the Bin Laden family, giving us the best line of the night from Eli: "Oh good, she banged the nice Bin Laden." Eli's vulnerability was quite endearing.

Inside the mind of Alicia. She doesn't want Will to meet the kids. She seemed to show a hint of jealousy toward Caitlin when she saw her talking to Will. What's her game? Having Will meet the kids would mean she's having a real relationship with him, something she seems to be trying to ignore. Is she sabotaging her fling? She seems undecided and greedy. Can't say I blame her for the indecisiveness so soon after her tumultuous marriage with Peter. Plus, it makes for good TV.

Celeste? Kalinda? Diane? Really looking forward to some more Diane moments soon. If not, I think it might be time to bring charges against the show for hiding Christine Baranski from the world. Likewise for Kalinda. I am dying for her to have some scenes with Alicia. The lack of Celeste didn't bother me as much. Thankfully I started to warm up to the character last week so I won't be dreading her return.

Gasp count: 1. Bin Laden's second cousin!

What did you think of the episode? Why do you think Alicia doesn't want Will to meet Grace and Zach?

'The Good Wife' airs Sundays, 9PM ET on CBS

i don't know if this makes sense, but this week's episode started off strong for me and then went a little flat. It felt like one of those transition episodes- like introducing a storyline or setting up something for the future. Of course a mediocre Good Wife is better than 99% of what's out there. But, I liked last week's better.

I also love Parker Posey. Watched her as a youngin' on As The World Turns years ago. But, her character same out of no where. I don't get the relationship with the two of them. I just don't enjoy seeing the two of them argue. And I don't know what to make of Eli's reaction- childish? stupid? boring? but kind of unprofessional IMO. Kalinda was stuck in the middle. :(

I was confused by some things in the episode- like the problems with the computers. Are we supposed to believe a company is trying to rip-off one of the biggest law firms in the state, but some 16 year old kid knows how to fix everything? Also, that case was so blah. I didn't care about any of the people involved. And why didn't Alicia call 911 when she saw the guy heading to the airport? I was confused by that whole scene- I don't know what the law in IL is regarding that situation.

btw- nice scene with Jake Silberman, another As The World Turns alum. He was the swimming boyfriend. There have been 4-5 actors from ATWT on TGW. I guess one reason is because both shows were produced in NYC. But, I've been very pleased at a lot of the guest actors picked. Some real talent.

I think Alicia knows once she introduces Will to her kids it all becomes way too REAL. Will they like him? Be nice to him?
Will he like them, too? Then they will tell their Dad, and the sh###!! hits the fan. Can't imagine her ex will take it well.

It will burst the bubble and make it a mundane relationship. She wants to keep him to herself, and he does have a fly by night reputation. Maybe she is protecting them.
