Condoleezza Rice Defends President Bush's Intelligence on 'Late Show' (VIDEO)

As David Letterman readily admitted to Condoleezza Rice on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), he certainly made his fair share of jokes about former President George W. Bush, particularly targeting his seeming lack of intellect. And so he decided that with Bush's former Secretary of State on, he was going to get to the bottom of this once and for all.

We're not sure if he expected Rice to throw her former boss under the bus or what, but she defended his intelligence and due diligence at performing the duties of his job. "I saw more cabinet secretaries go in there with their presentation and have the president ask the one question that they hadn't thought of," she cited as an example of his inquisitive and insightful mind.

It's very possible that Bush was a very clever and intelligent man who simply struggled with public speaking. That's not at all uncommon. Unfortunately, when you sit at the highest office in the country, it leaves you wide open for comedians to ridicule your behaviors and verbal gaffes.
