'60 Minutes' Plans Andy Rooney Tribute

'60 Minutes' will air a special segment devoted to the late Andy Rooney.Rooney died Fri., Nov. 4 at the age of 92. He had stepped down from his '60 Minutes' post on Oct. 2, saying at the time "I wish I could do this forever. I can't, though."
Rooney's final essay, "My Lucky Life," was his 1,097th for the long-running news program.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Morley Safer will lead the tribute to the late writer. Rooney had been with '60 Minutes' since 1978.
"It's a sad day at '60 Minutes' and for everybody here at CBS News," Jeff Fager, chairman of CBS News and the executive producer of '60 Minutes' said. "It's hard to imagine not having Andy around. He loved his life and he lived it on his own terms. We will miss him very much."
Viewers and fellow news figures have been sending their regards via social media.
"Andy Rooney was everyone's favorite curmudgeon," Katie Couric tweeted. "His crankiness made us smile."
