Henry Cavill Is Superman, Was Nearly 'Twilight's Edward and James Bond (VIDEO)

The latest Superman actor, Henry Cavill, may have wound up playing a couple of very different pop culture icons had the stars aligned differently. On 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), Jay Leno asked him about rumors that he was nearly cast as one of pop culture's oldest roles, and one of its newest.

Cavill confirmed that for his understanding, the role of James Bond was narrowed down to him and Daniel Craig. On the other end of the spectrum, it was his impression that Stephenie Meyer wanted him for Edward, but by the time they got around to making the movies he'd gotten too old.

"If I was hanging around high schools and stuff, it wouldn't go down so well," said the 28-year old. Clearly, he'd never seen the original 'Beverly Hills, 90210.'
