I'll say there's a double-standard here, but it's the opposite of the one you suggest.

It was OK for Clinton to do what he did and when women came out they were not given any time to prove what was done to them it was not until Monica had proff that it was noticed but he stll had everyone on his side. Mr. Cain did not sleep with any of the accusers. What a double standard if you are a Democrat which I am you do no wrong. If it happens to be Republican tear them apart. Cain would make good president.

Why wouldn't his ratings go up with Republicans! They think woman are just property any way, don't they? They want to control what woman can do with their own bodies, force them to bear children and stay on their knees.

I've heard that when people know they are on weak ground. they try to create a walkway for themselves by throwing out increasingly strong over-the-top denials. And, of course, denials that seem out of proportion make others increasingly suspicious and more interested in looking closer. It is a losing strategy.
