Regis Philbin's last few weeks on daytime TV have been filled with mash-up montages and surprise celebrity drop-ins. Monday, Robert De Niro made a surprise appearance on 'Live,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) and on Tuesday Michael Douglas showed up to bid Regis farewell. As Regis and Kelly were looking back on old footage of Regis and Douglas doing competing impressions of Kirk Douglas from the 1960 film 'Spartacus,' Michael walked out onto the stage, where he and Regis shook hands and hugged.
The two old friends brought out their 'Spartacus' impressions again and chatted about Kirk, who's now 95-years-old. Douglas had kind words for Regis: "Regis, enjoy whatever you're gonna do. You've brought so much joy ..." he said, as the two hugged again, sharing a heartfelt moment.
