In the wake of the Oscars hosting scramble that developed after Eddie Murphy dropped out last week, it was only fitting to get Jane Lynch's take on the drama. As the most recent host of the Emmys, and an openly gay actor in Hollywood, she's in a unique position to comment on the brouhaha. On 'Good Day New York,' (weekdays, 9AM ET on Fox) Lynch said she's not holding a grudge against former Oscars producer Bret Ranter for his controversial comments that started it all. "I don't think he meant to say that gay people are bad," she said.
Lynch, who said she'd love to someday host the Oscars, is thrilled to see Billy Crystal reprising his role as host, and credited him with being a trailblazer of the modern hosting model. "I can't wait to see Billy Crystal. He's the guy who set the bar for the rest of us. He set the form ... he's the one who started with the big, funny musical number, and now we all do that. We all want to be Billy Crystal."
