More Backstage Drama at 'Dancing With the Stars'

'DWTS' S13 semi-finals eliminationThis season of 'Dancing With the Stars' has its share of controversy. We've had Nipplegate, injuries, accusations of nepotism, dancers feuding with judges, dancers feuding with each other ... Now it's been reported that the strain of last night's semi-finals elimination all proved to be just too much for one dancer.

Each week the dancers go backstage and chat to reporters on the post-show press line, but last night one couple was conspicuously absent. According to E! Online, one half of the eliminated couple "was so upset about [their] elimination from the competition that she was unable to hold it together for interviews."

!!SPOILER ALERT!! If you don't know want to know who was eliminated last night, you might want to stop reading right about now.

Last night Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy saw their uneven and bad-tempered ride come to an abrupt end. Falling at the penultimate fence and being sent home just when the Mirror Ball trophy seems within their grasp is always so very hard for the eliminated couple, but it hit the US soccer goalie especially hard.

Solo was gracious in defeat on-air, thanking her fans and saying "This competition is one of the toughest competitions I've ever been a part of. ... Instead of trying to win a mirror ball trophy, I'm going to try to win a gold medal this summer at the Olympics." However, she was reportedly "distraught" backstage and was escorted out in tears after doing one interview.

The tears were in stark contrast to Solo and Maks' defiant stance after their performance Monday night when they first challenged judge Carrie Ann Inaba during the show, and then both dropped the f-bomb talking about her backstage.

Last night Maks tweeted his thanks to Solo and their supporters: "THANK YOU! To all the fans that voted for @hopesolo and me! Its YOUR show! Without you we don't exist! And congratulations to the finalist!"

Meanwhile, the other couples celebrated their success backstage after the show. The newly svelte Ricki Lake said she was really surprised to have made it to the finale, telling OTRC that "I take direction well and I'm a quick learner, but I'm not light on my feet." However, she's worked really hard and the punishing 'DWTS' training regime has taken its toll. "We worked so hard. I really busted my a** and I've lost a lot of [weight]." (Seriously, when will ABC launch the official 'DWTS' diet and exercise plan? It's a potential goldmine, guys!)

J.R. Martinez, who's been dancing with a bum ankle this week, said that while a part of him had always been confident that he had a shot at making it all the way to the finals, he was scared last night when he thought elimination was on the cards for him. He thanked his fans and praised his fellow competitors: "Ricki and Rob, they just killed it!"

Rob Kardashian -- who this season's gone from "Who He?" obscurity to surprise front-runner -- said he's confident going into the finals. "There's no turning back. ... I want that trophy now more than ever."

Tell us: Do you think the right pair was eliminated?

'Dancing With the Stars' airs Mondays at 8PM ET and Tuesdays at 9PM ET on ABC.

I personally think Rob should have gone home Hope and JR danced around the floor while Rob mostly walked. The judges only see what they want to see, if they haven't seen Rob's constant walking and stiff arming since day one then Maks is right and the judging is rigged. I am not a dancer.but I have watched enough ballroom dancing on PBS and great dancers like gene kelly, fred astair and donald o'connor to know when some is faking it. Rob is always watching his feet, and waiting to catch up with his partner while missing 2 or 3 steps. So yes Mak and to everyone else out there maybe it is time for the judges to man-up and move on and let judges who can judge more fairly and objestively without the hurtful and rude comments.

Its very clear that Carrie Ann is very angry about something concerning Maks, I personally think she made advances and he turned her down. That is the only thing that would account for the way he and Hope were treated. It was like she was jealous of Hope for being able to spend all that time with Maks. I really think ABC needs to reevaluate the judging on the show, the distasteful comments made by Bruno, the hyper criticism from Len and just the plain old condescending nastiness from Carrie Ann. Add the inane chatter from Brook and it is almost more than a person can stand!!! Replace them all and start with some new blood!

Why don't you do some research? ABC, Dancing with the Stars, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Hope Solo all have said that ABC/DWTS asked Hope and Maks not to do the interviews on Kimmel, press line, GMA and the View. They didn't have a choice. Before you paint this woman as a sore loser do your research. Check Hollywood Reporter and their twitter!

I think the right three couples made it to the finals. Hope & Maks were disrespectful and whiney complainers through out the competitions. Don't they think everyone else goes through the same trials as they do and yet they dont make excuses or get made about judgings. Yes the judges were making personal comments about Chaz that were uncalled for but they called it like it truly was with Hope & Maks. Hope is not graceful and not a good dancer. It's not her fault she is a tomboy who just looked flatout awkward on teh dance floor, but don't make excuses a or say the judges were being unfairly harsh in their assesment of her skills. She should have gone long ago.

I didn't think Solo was all that great from the get go. Can she dance better then me?? Probably, but then I'm not putting myself out there for all to see. I have seen a side of Max that I do not like at all. Very rude and disrespectful to say the and I wouldn't be at at all surprised if this ends up being his last season.
I think they should have gone a couple of weeks ago, so I'm glad their at least gone now.

I am sorry but all these conspiracy theories are absurd! Solo is beautiful but stiff as a broom, Maks is a great dancer but his choreoagraphy is boring and he spends too much time trying to manipulate the audience. He was right in his comments to Len but he came out rude and cocky. He also continued to roll his eyes even whe he was getting positive remarks! Solo came out at the end as childish an sore loser. Did she really think she was better than Lake?. I thought the judges were extra tough on JR but he took it gracefully. Rob still has that spoiled child hidden mean streak but he has improved a lot. I would have like to see Chyanna, Jr and Lake in the finals.

Total joke. The replay of Carrie Ann's smiling comment, shot from behind her, showed that Max was not smiling at all. Combined with Len's whisper about Max hiding his head behind Hope while Len was talking, clearly showed their bias against Max. While their job is to judge it is not to arrive at a predetermined outcome (Rob=ratings=predetermined outcome) or to take out their biases on contestants.

Hope and Max were the worst dancers. Neither one of them can take critism at all. The show is about improving and Hope was stiff and not very good, they loosened up only when they got mad at the judges. TOO late.. The judges are hard on everyone, thats why they are called JUDGES... Didn't care for either Max or Hopes attidude, no respect, they thought they were the best, don't the dancers watch their tapes after the show? Duh you would have seen how stiff and poorly you did, hello...

THE JUDGES WERE RUDE. IT WAS VERY EASY TO SEE WHO THEY ARE SUPPORTING. I WON'T BE WATCHING DANCING WITH THE SATARS NEXT YEAR. MAKS IS ONE OF THE BEST DANCERS THEY HAVE HAD. LEM SAYS THEY ARE FRIENDS. I WOULD HATE TO THINK WHAT HE IS LIKE TO PEOPLE HE DISLIKES.

Am I mistaken or are the Celebrities to be judged not revenge take out on the couple for what the judges deem disrespectful. It wasn't Hope that was doomed from the start , it was Max. This was the most blatant form of discrimination against Max. Hope continued to improve and the judges refused to judge her but punished Max. I think it is time for some changes and I don't mean the dancers. The judges forced the fate not only of Hope but Nancy Grace as well. The judges need to remain unbiased or there needs to be a major shakeup on that judging panel. Don't insult the publics intellegents by thinking we did not see what was going on
