'Dancing With the Stars' Semi-Finals and Week 9 Elimination (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2011 12:00AM
'Dancing With the Stars' eliminationThe most bittersweet elimination of the season took place on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Tue., 9PM ET on ABC). To come one week shy of the finale is absolutely brutal, but each of the remaining contestants was all smiles. Simply making it this far is quite an achievement, and all four have proven themselves talented and worthy of their place.

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

This week Hope Solo struggled the most with the judges, but J.R. Martinez wasn't so far ahead on points that a surge of public support couldn't save her. Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake were probably feeling pretty safe, but we've seen bigger surprises in the past.

We just didn't see one this week: Hope Solo and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were eliminated. Hopefully this means we won't get any petty bickering between the judges and the contestants in next week's finale. But the big question remains: Who will take home the coveted Mirror Ball trophy?

While Lake and Martinez have been strong almost from the beginning, Kardashian has been more of a late bloomer. But he's really come into his own in recent weeks. It really does seem like victory is within grasp for each of them.

Tell us: Who do you think will win this season of 'Dancing With the Stars'?

OMG I just read through a few pages of comments. Do we all watch the same show?? For one I love Maks more than anyone, he was the reason I first kept coming back and watching the show. But, his head has gotten so big as well as his disdain for the younger, stronger and lovable Derek (whom we all know outshines Maks by leaps & bounds when it comes to talent and choreography). Hey, I'm 50 and know it sucks to get old and watch the youngs ones come into their own, but unfortunately, that's life. I think he really does need some down time to rest, take a nap & get his Ego back into check. Secondly, Yes, Cari Ann most definitely had some serious issues going on with Hope & I am on board with "its jealousy." I love Ricki, I watch everyday her & Derek's Halloween dance. She is so Beautiful, sweet and her framing on some dances just have me in awe, but even though I think for talent Rickie should win. Lets face it. Ricki has had dance and acting experience. I have always been under the belief that DWTS was suppose to be for people who really had NO training to become dancers. So, now to JR. I am a retired veteran and I have nothing but, the utmost admiration and respect for him. He has overcome a great amount in the past few years. Though, he too knows the ropes about acting & performing. Now, I understand that he has never danced before, so I liked watching him grow. He has come along way. Now for Rob, the underdog. I know and I am with the rest of you all. I am sick of the inundated media frenzy regarding the Kardashin's, but I love Rob. Rob, constitutes what DWTS has always meant for me. Taking a celebrity who maybe is down on their luck, self-esteem not doing so good and watching them week by week grow and gain their sense of self back. For me Rob is the epitome of this. The youngest in a family filled of rude, overbearing, self-important women, who are not only know globally, but bulldozers who run all over anybody for the spot in the limelight. This kids doesn't stand a chance in the world being underfoot of them! I truly love how this sweet kid has grown so much over the weeks. Watching him become more & more confident, watching him grow from boy to man with the self realization, awareness that he can step out of his Sister's shadows & become anything he wants without riding on his sisters skirt tales. I love that his Mom, Dad and older sister actually showed up every week faithfully & let it be about him! That was a shock in and of itself. I love how the other two worse offenders of the family hardly showed their face but once. I am sure Kim couldn't take the ribbing and Khole couldn't take it not being all about her! Anyhoo, I love Rob.. I know he hasn't come so far in talent dance wise to take the mirror ball this season, but I do believe he has earned his placed in the finals & have no problem whatsoever with it. To me it's never about who wins anyways. I just always love the journey & Rob did that for me this season. Thanks Rob! :)

How Kardashian is still on DWTS is beyond me. This show has gone down hill. I am sick of the better dancers being eliminated early in the competition. The judges have become real asses, particularly Len and Carrie Ann. As reported on Entertainment Tonight, this show is losing it's appeal. I do love to watch the professional dance numbers like the Macy's spotlight dance, etc.

JR & Lake are the best dancers but the Kardashian seems to get the votes, even though he was not very good in the beginning, and although he has improved, (imagine the girls that got voted off early) I still I think JR & Ricki Lake will be the final two. This, as all the past years, is very disappointing, because the talented ones seem to get booted off early, while the ones you never expect to get past the first 2-3 weeks always seem to get voted in for whatever reasons, like Nancy, and OMG Cher's son/daughter should have left long long ago. So I probably will not be eager to watch in the future. Enough is enough, who the heck are these voters are that vote in the worst dancers, I don't know, but do not plan on watching. I love watching Max and hoped that he would win once. To me it was a very disappointing season.

It is easy for Ricki and Derek - he leads her and pushes her this way and that way - not as easy for J.R. and Rob.
I LOVE MAKS!!!!!!

Are you serious??????? You your eyes examined. Derek may instruct Ricki on the dance floor left, right, slow down or such when she's dancing. But, talk about being pushed around a dance floor. You need to go watch Maks push Hope around on theTeam Paso dance. OMG, it was like watching him dance with a rag doll, it was painful!

I for one NEVER watched a single show this season. It gone down hill so far that it will take great stars to make the show again. Dancers are treated so unfairly.

Maks is a little too light on his feet.

I am super super glad Maks is out, should not return...he is nothing but a whiner and arrogant.
JR or Ricki should win. Rob has improved but really he has no talent compare to JR or Ricki. Lens should also have respect for the contestants...he owes Nancy and the public an apology when he talked to her the last time he evaluated her...what an AH he was.

Maks was one of the best.. Him and Hope did great and the old dog judge bragged on them until the bi@#h said something smart about Maks smiling. What the hell. He had just got great reviews from the other two judges and after they left the old fart says what is wrong with them we bragged on them. He was not listening to what the witch judge said. She was jealous of Hope I think. Hope is a beautiful young woman and did not deserve to be treated the way she was and I hope Maks gets rid of that judge since he is the producer of the show. Yes they are supposed to tell all of them what they do wrong and when they do good but some of their calls are so off it is not even funny.. JR did not deserve the second three 10's last week, the first yes but not the second.. Ricki is the best hands down and has come a long way without complaining about aches and pains and she always smiles and treats everyone so sweet and kind.. Her and Hope should have been in the finals.. Rob is a bit of a sissy and JR is great but does not deserve to go to the finals.. I respect him so much for fighting for our country and hate what happened to him but that is no reason for him to go to the finals.. I thought Maks did great... You just sound like you don't know what show we was watching.. I thought it was rude what he said to Nancy but it was the truth. She should have been gone a long time ago and Chaz was a joke from day one. All she/he did was walk..
