Ricky Gervais Will Return as Golden Globes Host

by Chris Harnick, posted Nov 16th 2011 4:45PM
Ricky GervaisRicky Gervais will return to the Golden Globes. According to Variety, Gervais will host the award show for the third time.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association voted to have Gervais host the January show.

The 69th annual Golden Globes will be held Jan. 15 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Gervais first hosted the show in 2010 for the 67th annual ceremony. He returned to host the 68th last year and drew quite a bit of controversy for his jokes. Nobody was safe as Gervais poked fun at everybody from Charlie Sheen to the Hollywood Foreign Press.

The comedian took to Twitter to claim his jokes. "Just told Billy Crystal he'd better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars. He agreed (true)."

In August, Gervais said NBC wanted him back as host.

Tell us: Are you excited Ricky Gervais will be back as Golden Globes host?

Cool. He's the only reason to watch the show!! He was great. These egotistical, vain, pampered celebs need to realize how absurd they act and better be willing to take jokes about such behavior.

Gervais' humor is painfully and brutally honest. Plus it brings in good ratings, no matter how many actors or actresses have to be thrown under the bus. Gervais = more $$$

Gervais is the one reason Not to watch the show. A waste of time watching someone who lacks humor, but more importantly, decency.

Don't usually watch award shows, but saw him last year. Found him funny and entertaining. Then watched him on Piers Morgan's show.....again found him funny and forthright. Will watch this year too...well I will record the show then fast forward through all the commercials.
