Jerry Seinfeld Asks New Yorkers Who Should Replace Regis (VIDEO)

Today began a new era in daytime TV, as 'Live With Regis and Kelly' became 'Live With Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) in the wake of Regis Philbin's retirement. Kelly was joined by Jerry Seinfeld, who's serving as her temporary co-host. "I feel very honored that you invited me ... to be the first person to be part of Operation Smooth Transition," he said early in the show. And although Regis' absence has left 'Live' with an identity crisis, Seinfeld, at least today, capably filled the void. But the question of Kelly's permanent co-host still needs to be answered. Jerry took to the streets, hoping the people of New York might have the answer, but everyone he asked suggested he take the job permanently. "Who that we could afford?" he quipped. When the next person insisted that he would be a good fit, Jerry jokingly caved. "Alright, I'll take it."
