'Dancing With the Stars' Season 13 Finale: Who Will Win?
When Season 13 of 'Dancing With the Stars' premiered, hardly anyone thought Rob Kardashian would make it to Week 4, let alone the finals -- but he did. And perhaps even more surprising? He deserved to.But just because he's leading the pack heading into tonight's grand finale (Tues., Nov. 22 at 8PM ET), doesn't mean that you should count out J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake just yet.
Ricki's been Season 13's ringer. She has the performance background, the technique and, from Week 1, she was in it to win it. Did I mention that she's also had the biggest physical transformation?
J.R. was the relative unknown with the heroic background. He's relied on his natural talent and personality to get him through week to week, winning the hearts of millions of Americans. Then there's Rob. Every season has an underdog, and this season, it was Rob. Sure, he may have millions of fans and tons of celebrity support, but he's had to fight for his spot in the finals. Do any of you remember his disastrous Week 1 waltz?
So who will take home the Mirror Ball and become the Season 13 'Dancing With the Stars' champion? Let's discuss ...
When it comes to Twitter support, Kardashian is king.
Say what you want about the Kardashian family, but they do have a lot of Twitter followers -- over 26 million followers combined, to be exact. So it should come as no surprise that Rob Kardashian has it covered in the fan support department, especially with a little help from his super famous sisters rooting for him.
Last night, Kim Kardashian tweeted to her 11 million-plus followers: "Just pulled up to Dancing With The Stars to see @RobKardashian & @CherylBurke! They need your votes tonight! Please vote 800 868 3402."
Meanwhile, Khloe Kardashian tweeted to her 5 million followers, "I am so proud of Rob!!!!!!!! Please vote West coast!!! 800 868 3402."
There's nothing wrong with Rob's famous family showing their support -- that's all part of the game -- but he's got to have the most online support of any 'DWTS' contestant ever. Twitter has exploded with #VOTE4ROB hashtags and overwhelming fan support week after week.
At this point, we all know that 'Dancing With the Stars' is more of a popularity contest than a dancing competition, so will the Kardashians' millions of fans help Rob win the coveted Mirror Ball? Maybe.
Just because J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake don't have international Twitter campaigns doesn't mean that they haven't built up their own fan bases. Let's face it: Even though the Kardashians have millions of fans, they also have millions of people who want to see them fail. Not to mention that J.R. and Ricki have been fan favorites since Week 1.
Ricki has gotten this far on talent and progress alone, but after her underwhelming freestyle routine, I think that this race for 'Dancing With the Stars' glory is mainly between Rob and J.R. It's not that I don't like Ricki, but finally having to rely on votes the one week she underperformed probably won't help her.
So it's between the Kardashian and the war hero. I think it's pretty obvious, right? As much as Rob has improved -- and as much as the Kardashians have been tweeting for votes -- I just don't think he's going to win this one.
J.R. has inspired millions with his story, given a voice to the often unheard veteran population, faced his own struggles throughout the competition and has triumphed against the odds. In the end, is there anyone that deserves it more? I don't think so.
So who should win? J.R. And who will win? I have to believe that it's J.R. What do you guys think?
