Gameplay Leads to Tense Elimination Vote on 'Biggest Loser' (VIDEO)

Every time, I seem to lose track of the number of contestants somewhere in the middle of each season of 'The Biggest Loser' (Tue., 8PM ET on NBC). And then, all of a sudden there are only six or so people left in the house. That's where I found myself this week, surprised that it was so close to ending.
The contestants got to experience a little bit of Thanksgiving -- am I the only one who thinks of the absurdity of celebrating these holidays months in advance when the episodes were actually filmed? -- with a temptation challenge that promised three different prizes.
By the end of the night, all six contestants had won something, with Vinny and John perhaps winning the most precious gifts. Vinny scored a three-pound advantage with nothing but luck in the temptation, while John climbed his butt off -- but clearly not enough -- to score a one-pound advantage.
For John, though, it was a double-edged sword as he also had to give someone else a one-pound disadvantage. But John's playing a game, and he's got his eye on the prize, so when Vinny told him he should give the pound disadvantage to him, which would just lower him to a two-pound advantage, you knew John wasn't going to do it.
It's go time on the Ranch, and it's time to put the camaraderie aside and start playing the game for the top prize. John absolutely did that when he gave the disadvantage to Sunny, and it proved a shrewed move as he then beat her by 1/100th of a percentage point. They each genuinely lost five pounds.
John kept himself alive in the game, but he lost a lot of respect from Antone in the process when he also wrote Sunny's name down to kick her out of the game. It was because he said he did it because he wanted to compete man-to-man with Ramon, who was also below the yellow line. If he wanted to compete man-to-man, he would have given the pound to Vinny and let his work on the gym determine his fate.
Or maybe he just wants to compete man-to-man so long as he can give himself every advantage he can. Next week should be interesting, as Sunny avoided elimination and John now has probably no friends left in the house. Now he has to do whatever it takes to stay or he will be gone as soon as possible.
