Stephen Colbert Pleads With Herman Cain to Stay in the Race (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 30th 2011 4:00AM
'The Colbert Report'With the latest allegations that he sustained a 13-year extra-marital affair, Herman Cain is reportedly taking some time off to consider if he should stay in the race. Stephen Colbert took to the airwaves on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) to plead with him to stay.

"I'm saying this not just as a supporter, but as a broadcaster," Colbert said. "I need you in the race!"

He went on to say that this is an improvement over previous allegations as it shows he can sustain a consensual long-term relationship. Besides, he's still one affair behind Gingrich, who pundits are saying will be the likely recipient of lapsed Cain supporters. Guess the newer affair story is more important than the old ones.

This race is soooo unbelievable! As I look at the sorry sorry set of Republican “rivals” on the other side, it makes me more thankful than ever... to have Barack Obama as President of the United States, and as a viable candidate for re-election. Mr. Obama: your heart, your values, and your basic decency are all in the right place. But...your hands are tied. Unfortunately they were tied by us, the electorate.....when we failed to provide you with a Congress that you can work with. Instead, you are saddled with a don’t-tax-the-1%-do-nothing Congress that battles you at every turn, while the people suffer. God, they don't EVEN let you pass your own appointments. It's not Tea-publican gridlock - it's Tea-publican sabotage. Heck, it's Tea-publican treason....while the 99% suffers.  And then they try to pin the blame on Mr. Obama. These people have no shame...or else its been purchased by those who can afford to do so. And when grandma gets her meager Social Security check, they call it socialism. You can’t make this stuff up! Thankfully, with Occupy Wall Street America has found its voice : a voice that reminds us that people -the ordinary working people of this country- really DO matter. Instead of talking about less government , and more and more painful cuts, it’s a voice that demands a government that WORKS, a government that works FOR ALL OF US, not just for a favored few, not just for the rich. It’s a voice that comes up from the grassroots, and lifts us up: because it insists that this land IS our land...and that we WANT IT BACK! And most importantly, it's a voice that will help us re-elect the President AND give him a more progressive Congress to work with. Mr. Obama: I wish you well. You STILL give me hope.
