Top 11 in '11: TV's Funniest Women

by AOL TV Staff, posted Nov 30th 2011 12:00PM
tv's 11 funniest ladies in comedyThis has been a banner year for women in TV. Two new female-fronted comedies, 'New Girl' and '2 Broke Girls,' broke out of the fall pack, and hilarious females continued to steal scenes on veteran shows like 'Community' and 'Cougar Town.' And who can forget Melissa McCarthy's triumphant victory at the Emmys?

To celebrate the Fabulous Female Laff Riot of 2011 (bear with us: that's only a working title), AOL TV is counting down the Top 11 women in TV comedy.

But first, a programming note: please try not to freak out when you don't see Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on the list. They belong to the Hall of Fame, and our list is devoted to those witty women who have come into their own during the last year.

Meh, my personal opinion with this list is that almost none of these people make me laugh. Most of them are unfunny... Just being honest. It almost seems like you pulled this list from somewhere else: people you're 'supposed' to find funny. : /

Casey Wilson, yes, but certainly Eliza Coupe (Jane from Happy Endings.)

I say you should have included voice actresses too so you could recognize Kristen Schaal's work on Bob's Burgers and Judy Greer on Archer. I love that you included Casey Wilson though! #yearofpenny

Aubrey Plaza(Parks and Rec) needs to be on this list as well as Eliza Coupe(Happy Endings) although I do love that Jane Levy made the list but I think she should be higher.

I think Aubrey Plaza from Parks and Rec should be on this list. She never gets enough attention for her deadpan delivery.

The last name of the lead on Awkward is Jenna Hamilton, not Jenna Richards (which is close to the last name of her portrayer, Ashley Rickards). Also, how could you omit Melissa McCarthy's hilarious SNL hosting duties?

Melissa McCarthy should be in first place. Her hosting SNL should garner her another emmy. She has more comedic talent than all of these other women put together except maybe Christina Applegate. I like Zoey but her singing and goofy Jess line gets annoying after a while. Melissa rocks it every time

I was gonna comment on the ridiculous omission of Amy Poehler. But then I read the article. Omission justified.

It would be nice if you labeled the photos.
