Piers Morgan Gaffes, Says Patrice O'Neal Was a Woman (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Dec 1st 2011 3:00PM

Things aren't going so well for Piers Morgan lately. He's facing new questions about his role in the News Corp. hacking scandal after his name surfaced in Paul McMullan's testimony before Parliament, his CNN show 'Piers Morgan Live' fell to an all-time ratings low in November, and on Tuesday night he stumbled into an epic blunder when he mistakenly referred to comedian Patrice O'Neal, who died of a stroke on Tuesday, as a woman.

While talking to Dane Cook, Morgan tried to hit a somber note when he said it had been a "sad day for comedy with the death of Patrice O'Neal, who I know that you knew. She died of a stroke today ... I want to look a quick look at a clip of Patrice on Jimmy Fallon to remind everyone just how funny she was."

Apparently Morgan needed to be reminded himself, as the embarrassing gaffe made it crystal clear that he had absolutely no idea who he was talking about. According to Zap2it, when the show returned from break, Morgan called O'Neal "a very funny guy," so at least someone on his staff isn't an idiot.

I wasn't always crazy about Larry King, but this guy should be sent back to the UK. He has no business here, and there are many Americans who could do the job much better!!

This guy doesn't do his homework before his interviews and he fawns a bit too much over any young, pretty actress. he has on. He comes off as pretty creepy and he should spend a lot less time tweeting (he's a little long in the tooth to be spending all his free time tweeting) and do a little more research on his guests prior to air. Interesting that he's staying so quiet about the Fox debacle. He seems to have an opinion on everything else,
