Nothing Goes to Plan on a Takedown Mission on 'Homeland' (VIDEO)

'Homeland' - 'Representative Brody'It was such a perfectly orchestrated plan that the veteran television viewer in me knew something was going to go wrong. But I didn't imagine just how wrong when Carrie and Saul's plan to take down Walker was implemented on 'Homeland' (Sun., 10PM ET on Showtime).

They'd put so much effort into getting the Saudi Arabian diplomat to work their side as a mole, it seemed unlikely all that work would be for naught. But Walker proved why he's such a dangerous operative for the opposition in the United States. His actions also confirmed that there is definitely a mole within the CIA operation.

Rather than show up for the scheduled meet, he sent a lookalike homeless man and a briefcase. The concussive explosion led to five deaths and multiple injuries. Not only did Carrie get a concussion trying to stop it, but we saw civilian carnage the likes of which we usually don't see on television except in gritty war shows. Which just goes to show that this is a war, after all.

It's the modern warfare of terrorism, which is still so difficult to fully comprehend or explain. Certainly, though, the stakes have been proven higher than imagined before on this show if Abu Nazhir is willing to allow this kind of destruction -- or did Walker go rogue on this to save himself?
