'American Horror Story': Is Violet Dead? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 8th 2011 5:30AM
'American Horror Story' - 'Smoldering Children'For the past couple of weeks, fans of 'American Horror Story' (Wed., 10PM ET on FX) have taken to the Internet with the question, "Is Violet dead?" They'd been analyzing her scenes in recent weeks, speculating that maybe she didn't survive her earlier suicide attempt.

As if in answer to their questions, Violet took center stage in this week's episode, where it was definitively revealed if she was indeed dead or alive. But Violet's state wasn't the only revelation.

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

While it was assumed that Larry was burned in the fire that took his family, it turns out it was instead a result of Tate's first stop before he went on a shooting rampage at school. It's still unclear if he remembers the events of that day.

As the episode progressed, truancy officers came to the house because Violet had been out of school the past 16 days. Tate revealed himself as the man in the rubber suit to Ben, and then tried to convince Violet to kill herself to be with him. As odd as it sounds, this was actually his attempt at an act of mercy.

But when she panicked and tried to run out of the house, only to find herself back in there, he had to show her the painful truth. She never survived that suicide attempt, and now her body is lying beneath the house -- and attracting flies. Why it's just been left there when other bodies have been better hidden is another unanswered question.

And now the body count in the house grew by one, as the exterminator who stumbled across Violet's body is the latest resident in haunting.

Is Ben dead? Why can he see/interact with all the ghost? Vivian can not???? I like this show, but it is mind boggling sometimes!

I love this show. It's different, and keeps you guessing each week! It's scary too ... great acting on everyone's part. Can't wait until the birth of the "twins" next week. LOL

Being "killed off" on that show doesn't mean you're off the show. Most of the characters on the show ARE dead.

I love this show! It is the best on TV, after Walking Dead, of course!

Last night episode was the saddest-even though I suspected she was dead, but when she saw her body...Thank God Travis added some comic relief.

This is such a good show! I have a feeling all the inhabitants are dead. That's why they can't leave. The revelation of Violet being dead is just peeling the surface.

I love this show, it's odd it's unusual and to think the creator of Glee had such a dark side. It would be better on HBO or another pay channel allowing more to be heard and seen. Great show, won't miss an episode.

Did you ever see "Nip/Tuck"? Falchuck and Murphy's very darkly, witty creation long before Glee (also on FX like AHS now).
