'Community': Abed Convinces Troy to Join Glee With a Rap (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 1:00AM

'Community' - 'Regional Holiday Music'While NBC continues to insist that the absence of 'Community' (Thu., 8PM ET on NBC) from its 2012 midseason schedule does not mean the show has been cancelled, many fans still feel that this episode may be their last chance to rally support for the show. (Save Greendale!) To make that task simpler, the 'Community' gang riffed on one of television's most popular and acclaimed shows.

When members of the Greendale Glee Club found itself suffering simultaneous nervous breakdowns, director Taran Killam ('Saturday Night Live') called on the study group to fill in -- except for Britta. When they rejected him, he realized he only had to turn one and then that person would do the work for him.

So he got Abed on board, who then roped in Troy by performing a holiday-themed rap called 'Christmas Infiltration.' By the time the episode was through, the cast had mocked several elements of music, as well as 'Glee' (where does that piano guy come from?). And Britta got her chance to shine, such as it was, with a piercing solo from her heart.

Check out the cast's take on making the episode here.

I have watched this episode three times now. I just don't get the American TV audience. This show is smart, innovative, and funny. Yet week after week TBBT is the winner pulling in all the viewers. TBBT is a cute show and I get a chuckle or two from each episode but it is a standard sitcom. I watch a show once and boom, I am done. With Community, each watching offers something new to see. I really hope it makes it to a forth season, maybe like King of Queens syndication will bring lots of new viewers.

@devinmcmusters You really feel that way? Honestly, I thought it was a great episode and I've been enjoying this season a tremendous amount. I don't see why they would need to parody something at the absolute most topical moment in order to be entertaining.

It's stale. They've done the Glee thing already a few times on Community. The ending segment was awesome though.

Making fun of Glee? How two years ago. Community is going downhill fast. At least next week they're repeating last year's amazing Christmas episode.
