'All American Muslim': Russell Simmons Lashes Out at Lowe's for Pulling Ads from TLC Show

all american muslim lowes russel simmonsHip-hop mogul and former reality star Russell Simmons slammed Lowe's hardware store after it pulled its ads from TLC's new series 'All American Muslim,' exclusively reports Entertainment Weekly.

"This can't happen in America ... [Lowe's] needs to fix this immediately," Simmons said. "They can't get away with that, it's ridiculous. There are American principals at stake here. I can't imagine the Anti-Defamation League, the NAACP, the National Urban League, or any organization that fights for their own rights will allow this to happen to any other group because they know they're next."

Simmons isn't the only one upset by the homebuilding store's decision. According to the Los Angeles Times, California state senator Ted Lieu called on Lowe's to apologize for pulling its advertising from the TV show, which follows the lives of five Muslim American families from the Dearborn, Michigan area, home to one of the most active Muslim communities in the country.

Yet, according to the conservative Florida Family Association, "The show profiles only Muslims that appear to be ordinary folks while excluding many Islamic believers whose agenda poses a clear and present danger to liberties and traditional values that the majority of Americans cherish."

They then encouraged members to email the program's advertisers, the conservative organization posted a letter reportedly from a Lowe's representative, stating that the retail giant has agreed to pull its ads from the docu-series: "While we continue to advertise on various cable networks, including TLC, there are certain programs that do not meet Lowe's advertising guidelines, including the show you brought to our attention. Lowe's will no longer be advertising on that program."

Lowe's then acknowledged its decision on Twitter. "We did not pull our ads based solely on the complaints or emails of any one group. It is never our intent to alienate anyone. Lowe's values diversity of thought in everyone, including our employees and prospective customers."

However, Simmons says that pulling the ads was "a stupid thing to do," reports Entertainment Weekly, and called on the hardware company to show support the show, instead of pulling its ads.

"This is a press nightmare for them," Simmons told Entertainment Weekly. "This country is built on religious freedom. This is the kind of hate that tears this country apart."

Lowes does not have to apologize to anyone, for not supporting a show, which is nothing but propaganda to desensitize Americans on what should be a concern to the unity of this country.

The fact is that most Muslims countries all over the world have pretty much kept everyone else but Muslims out, by death and violent intimidation. Now, they are coming for your land, America, to wrest pieces of it too, for Islam. Already, many Muslim communities in Western societies are increasingly becoming enclaves, averse to integration, let alone assimilation, and are increasing establishing local alternative governing system based on Sharia law.

Islam in America is a perilous prospect, founded on perilous premises. Islam has always been a violent political movement and will always be. Soon or later, America will have a taste of the true Islamic sense of peace towards “infidels” - death. Muslims are thought to hate Christians, Jews and all non Muslims. Just last summer Muslims killed my cousin in Northern Nigeria, for no other reason, except that he was a Christian living in “Muslim land”. Muslims are incapable of TRULY loving even other Muslims; think of what the Shiite and Sunni Muslims have been doing to each other. Just last week Muslims murdered tens of fellow Muslims in Afghanistan in sectarian violence while they worshipped their Allah, not to talk of the unspeakable carnage the Sunni and Shiite Muslims alike committed on each other in Iraq just a few years ago. How come there is nothing but persecution, slavery and death for non Muslims in Muslims countries or Muslim dominated lands. Don't tell me Islam is a peaceful religion, it is not. Just follow the evidence. I am originally from Nigeria and I know Islam all too well; it is not a peaceful religion.

Look how great the Muslims in Dearborn live. My sister lives there, and she said the stores advertising is in theri language, and they have taken Dearborn over almost completely. The jobs should be going to the people that have lived there for generations, too, you never see them working in the factories, or doing the work the average American has to to today to exist.......thanks Lowes for your good choice.

Nice try, Redman. You know all too well that is not what we are talking about here. The kid you refer to did not do what he did in the name of Christianity. Yes, many Muslims died in 9/11 and we mourn them too, but you cannot deny the fact that those who murdered them were Muslims and murdered them in the name of Islam, just as Muslims are murdering Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and many other places, just to kill people they disagree with, with no regards to who else gets killed.

I do not call those people Muslims, because what they did is completely contradictory to Islam and what the holy book says! You can't blame those terrorist actions on Islam because those people say that they do it in the name of Islam. As for an example of terrorist Christians, the Crusades are a perfect example. I am just saying that Al-Qeada is a cult and REAL muslims shouldn't be grouped with them or treated badly because of them or their actions.

So people are saying "Who are we to dictate what companies do with their advertising", yet it was because of pestering and pandering that Lowe's did this in the first place. I...see.

And really, if you think Lowe's was just going to pull their sponsorship for this show on their own, quietly, you're a fool. Groups make a stink, businesses respond.

I guess it doesn't matter much in the end, as nobody involved is a winner. TLC still airs awful programs, Lowe's gets bad press with people it didn't have any bad press with before, and the people in this country who watch the garbage programming on TLC suck.

Why is anyone quoting Russell Simmons? That guy is an idiot. It's a free country, so Lowes can do whatever they want. Give me a break.

I'm starting to feel that a number of Americans (and a few commenters here) have trouble understanding that just because SOME muslims are terrorists, does NOT mean all of them are. It would be like assuming all white people are crooks just because some caucasian public officials and CEOs have a tendency to defraud their stakeholders.
