The Primetime Emmys are still months away – the night of Sunday, August 29, to be exact – but the talk in Hollywood has already started swirling about who's going to host the show. An announcement is expected next week and since NBC is doing the broadcast, 'Late Night' host Jimmy Fallon is being mentioned prominently.

According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC has urged the TV Academy board to give Jimmy Fallon the thumbs up. Fallon's presence, the network contends, would appeal to a younger demographic. Terms like Twitter and Facebook have been thrown around to prop up the argument.

As the date for Betty White's hosting gig on 'Saturday Night Live' comes ever closer (May 8th), NBC is releasing more promos featuring the grande dame of television.

In the first promo, similar to one mentioned here earlier this week, Betty addresses rumors that have her dating Zac Efron. Apparently, as the camera pans around the room, those rumors are totally false. In the second promo, Ms. White wonders if her 'SNL' gig will lead to bigger and better hosting duties for, perhaps, the Academy Awards. To that end, she enlists a trio of computer nerds to fan the Internet rumor flames.

Betty White, Hollywood's newest and oldest "it girl" is heading to 'Saturday Night Live' on May 8, and she owes it all to the Internet.

In the first promo for her hosting gig, White thanks the Internet for getting her on the show and addresses some rumors.


It makes perfect sense. Why wouldn't Betty White nab the sexy, younger man? She's pretty much the queen of America at this point.

The special Mother's Day episode of 'Saturday Night Live' will also feature Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.

(S35E20) Like most of the public, I only knew Gabourey Sidibe from 'Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire' (Okay, seriously, if we're gonna do that, can we put it on the end of every movie adaptation of a novel? 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, based on the novel 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' by JK Rowling). It was one of those movies that I wasn't sure if I wanted to even watch because just looking at Sidibe in the trailers made me uncomfortable.

(S35E19) All in all, a pretty mediocre episode. Ryan Phillippe didn't seem to stretch himself in any way. Well, okay, okay, he dressed up as a chick for a sketch, but apart from that, there was no palpable attempt to celebrate the fact that Ryan Phillippe was hosting or play to his strengths. I mean, I won't pretend I know what those particular strengths are, but 'Saturday Night Live' usually does a fair job of letting hosts try something dramatically out of their comfort zone or play up something unexpected. There was no sense of that in this episode.

Maybe they wanted to keep the episode toned down to counter whatever amount of crazy Ke$Ha wanted to unleash. By the way, that girl looks like she perpetually smells like drugstore watermelon body spray and BO. If that's the look she's going for, she's really nailing it.

(S35E18) Tina Fey gives hope to all nerdy funny girls out there. You may be frumpy and strange now, girls, but all you have to do is work really hard, be yourself, create/write/star in a hit show with Alec Baldwin and become super-famous. Then you will finally be able to soothe the flame of self-hate this is currently raging within you. This is the only option to escape your ugly duckling phase. Sorry if you were convinced otherwise.

All right, seriously, this was a solid episode. It felt like Fey had a strong hand in what kind of material was being produced; most of the sketches worked very well for her. This was also the first time I had heard Justin Bieber. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

A host can make or break an entire episode of 'Saturday Night Live.' In fact, the mere presence of some celebrities like Chevy Chase, Milton Berle and Frank Zappa have turned their slice of Saturday late night into the lowest moments of "Must-Miss TV."

However, things are looking good this season. A preliminary list of hosts includes Oscar nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe, former 'SNL'er and '30 Rock' star Tina Fey and 'Golden Girl' actress and new found Internet champion Betty White.

However, some pop culture icons, nay legends, will never get to prove their celebrity power by hosting this comedy powerhouse simply because they never got an invitation, the show wasn't around in their time or they physically couldn't go to the studio. These hosts would have made for the best shows if the laws of time and space went on a week-long coffee break.

The 'MacGruber' movie may be nearly two months away from hitting the big screen -- it arrives in theaters May 21 -- but that hasn't prevented a full-out marketing blitz. There's a new NSFW trailer of the 'SNL' adaption, which you can watch after the jump.

We get to see MacGruber (Will Forte) putting together his team to fight the so-called world's most dangerous man (Val Kilmer), along with Kristen Wiig as a master of disguise.

If the trailer is any indication, 'MacGruber' is going to be a slapstick festival of double-entendres (if you're looking for subtle, move on). Probably a good excuse to turn your head off for an hour and a half and sit in an air-conditioned room on a hot spring day.

It's interesting that in E! Online's announcement about 'Precious' star Gabourey Sidibe being asked to host an upcoming episode of 'Saturday Night Live,' their writer referenced a couple of disrespectful quotes Howard Stern had made about Sidibe in early March. Stern makes a living by saying things that push the envelope of good taste, but these words seem to have resonated a bit more than usual.

"There's the most enormous, fat black chick I've ever seen," he said. "She is enormous. Everyone's pretending she's a part of show business and she's never going to be in another movie." He even took on Oprah Winfrey, who's certainly no stranger to weight struggles or lasting success. "Oprah's another liar, a filthy liar. She's telling an enormous woman the size of a planet that she's going to have a career."

Everyone loves Betty White, and with good reason. She's always had a sense of humor about herself, and been willing to play off her supposedly more conservative, dignified character. So it's no surprise that there was a groundswell of support for her after her Super Bowl commercial, where she gets pounded into the mud during a pick-up football game.

White was the focus of a spontaneous effort on the part of fans to get the powers that be at 'Saturday Night Live' to ask her to host, which was successful (she's scheduled to host May 8).

Part of me misses the early and some of the latter days of 'Saturday Night Live.' At least the people being poked fun of had enough humility and humor to appear with the people that were poking fun of them like Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush and even Newt Gingrich.

Maybe those days are here once again.

A Washington Post gossip column item reveals that someone spotted 'SNL's' Andy Samberg walking into the White House gates, reportedly to meet President Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel, a meeting that was arranged by New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd. Something tells me it had something to do with this.

That Betty White Mother's Day episode of 'Saturday Night Live' on May 8 just got a whole lot more interesting. Today, the news broke that Amy Poehler is having a baby. This will be baby number two for Amy and her brilliantly funny spouse Will Arnett. It'll also throw the production schedule of Amy's NBC sitcom 'Parks and Recreation' into a tailspin, but the network has been aware of her delicate condition for weeks and they've been making arrangements.

According to The Wrap, Amy's on screen character, Leslie Knope, will not be having a baby. That would be catastrophic for Leslie, since the career woman who dreams of climbing the political ladder from Pawnee, Indiana, to the state capitol and beyond, is a single lady. An out of wedlock baby might not be a catalyst to bigger and better things.

I've always wondered what it would be like to watch George Bush Sr. and George Bush Jr. have a sit-down. It must the most awkward fly-on-the-wall conversation since King Richard III told Henry Stafford he was going to have to make some "cutbacks."

Now thanks to the people at Funny or Die, now I know. And knowing is half the battle.

The site released some cutting room floor footage from their recent "Presidential Reunion" PSA directed by Ron Howard featuring some funny, improvised dialogue between Dana Carvey and Will Ferrell as the presidential father and son.

This might be the minority opinion, but 'Saturday Night Live' has been doing some good things lately. Sure, they still have a lot of dreck mixed in with the good moments, but the last two episodes (with Zack Galafianakis and Jude Law) were quite entertaining.

Those are two good choices for hosts, and the show continues to make good choices in that regard. First came the news that Betty White will host the show in May, and now comes word that Tina Fey will come back and host too.

Fey will host the April 10 show. Will she do her Sarah Palin impersonation? Will she return to "Weekend Update" in some way? I think you can bet on both of those things happening.

The musical guest will be Justin Bieber, which means I'll finally find out why "Justin Bieber" has been a Trending Topic on Twitter every day for the past three months.
